[3D is being pushed as the next step for all screen-based entertainment and Ubisoft's Murray Pannell has stated his expectation that it become standard in three years. Yet why has reaction to the technology been so mixed?] Ubisoft's Head of UK Marketing, Murray Pannell, expressed his opinion in a Eurogamer interview this week that it will take just three years for 3D televisions to become the new standard. This forecast seems over-ambitious, not least as HD televisions have been commercially available since 2005 and by all accounts have yet to be taken up by a majority of television-owning households. It's ... market research, surveys and trends

Weekend Report: 'Avatar' Soars in Debut - Box Office Mojo
obtained $77 million on approximately 7,000 screens at 3,452 sites over the weekend, claiming the highest-grossing opening ever for a movie that's neither a sequel, a remake nor a direct adaptation (though others had greater attendance). It was also the second highest-grossing December opening weekend after I Am Legend ($77.2 million). Overall weekend business surged 55 percent over the same weekend last year, but was down considerably from the comparable period in 2007, when I Am Legend and Alvin and the Chipmunks debuted. With its advanced 3D presentation as a key selling point, Avatar handily set a new 3D opening weekend ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Weeeknd Box Office – DESPICABLE ME Clears $60 Million for First Place ...
With summer 2010 so clearly dominated by reboots and sequels, it’s nice to see an original concept rise to the top for a change. Even with Toy Story 3 and The Last Airbender still out there occupying those precious 3D screens, Universal’s 3D animated Despicable Me exceeded most projections by taking first place this weekend with an estimated $60.1 million. With the availability of 3D venues as tight as ever, Universal managed to secure just 1,551 3D sites out of 3,476 for their PG-rated Despicable Me . That means that more than half of the film’s $60.1 million was earned the old-fashioned way: without a 30% surcharge for funny ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
LeBron Nation: Americans Hypnotized As Country Collapses
The sight of American citizens gathering to protest basketball player LeBron James’ decision to join Miami Heat last week, after Ohio Governor Ted Strickland joined celebrities to serenade James in a bizarre appeal video entitled “We are LeBron,” was a shocking reminder of how millions of Americans are more concerned about sports teams than the fact that their country is collapsing around them, and how potent a threat such wanton delusion is to the survival of freedom and prosperity in the United States. In a You Tube clip that went viral after appearing on the Drudge Report website, Alex Jones explained how ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

I [3] Personal video games come in two basic varieties: console games and PC games. Console games are played by loading a game disk into a console, which is connected to the user's television. PC games are played by loading a game disk into the CD drive of a personal computer. 3DTV or not 3DTV? That is the question. | Ask MetaFilter
I'm really lost at all the hype surrounding 3D TVs. In my mind if there was one place where 3D should have worked (if it was going to work anywhere) it would be PC gaming. Sitting fairly close to screen, not worried about wearing funny glasses, and generally not a shared activity. But 3D TV is the opposite of all of these - so why will it work when 3D PC gaming never really took off? Better technology, companies are even trying to develop 3D without glasses. Better marketing, the big TV companies and movie studios see this as the next big thing. They will spend vast sums of money on advertising because they stand to make ...
