The National Cartoonists Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They found that they enjoyed each other's company and decided to get together on a regular basis. Almost all (90%) respondents earned some revenue from licensing rights to stock images. Average income from stock was $94,242. Though nine respondents (less than 0.5%) earned over $500,000, 78% earned less than average: 29% earned less than $10,000 from stock sales; 19% earned between $10,000 and $30,000; and 30% earned between $30,000 and the $94,242 average. Groups sue Mass. over newly expanded obscenity law
A coalition of booksellers and Internet content providers on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit challenging an expansion of Massachusetts' obscenity law to include electronic communications that may be harmful to minors. Supporters say the new law, which went into effect Monday, closes a loophole that prompted the state's highest court to overturn the conviction of a man accused of sending sexually explicit instant messages to someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl. When my father, 84, passed away, I took scanned pictures from his computer on a CD to a store to have photos made for a display at the funeral.  The store would not give me the pictures that LOOKED like they were professionaly done.  One was a black & white 82 year old picture of him as a baby and another was 40 years old, taken by his employer for his badge.  No markings on the front of the pictures showing who took them.  Isn't there a statue of Limitations on the copyright?  What are the criteria stores use to determine if it is copyrighted or not? What would be reasonable pricing for Limited Rights (I do not want to transfer copyright) ?
