First, you should know that ad representatives are hurting now. Less business owners are advertising, and they are cutting back on the ads they run. So reps are willing to deal. Even if they tell you they are not willing to negotiate…they are. I use two approaches that work. The first one is simply to call that advertising sales manager. Don’t deal with a rep, especially a new one. They may not even be aware that these deals are out there. The manager will have to approve this price anyway, so you may as well deal with them now. Simply call the sales manager and tell them that you have figured out what it costs you ... market research, surveys and trends

Portfolio (a Penguin Group imprint), after a dozen books with the company. Usually when an author leaves, it’s for another publisher that promises more money, better editing, or whatever it takes to snag a big name. But Godin is turning his back completely on traditional publishing, creating e-books and print-on-demand paper titles and selling directly to his fans. Authors have long complained about publishers — low advances, slow action, the amount of promotion they expect writers to do. Asked by Dflood Posted: Tuesday, April 07, 2009  |  Found in Sales & Marketing From the day the first ad ran you should have already have been asking "How did you hear about us?" and tracking how many saw you on cable. From there, you can start to realize what your conversion ratio would be, and then you need to determine how long you're going to track it. conversion rates: affiliate vs. e-commerce
I just read a thread about 'average conversion rates' in the e-commerce forum (yes, yes 'average' is hard to determine...). They were talking about conversion rates for their e-commerce stores of around 2%. However somebody mentioned, that content-rich affiliate sites might generally have lower conversion rates, because many people check out the content and are not going to buy as opposed to pure e-commerce. So, what would you guys consider an 'average conversion rate' for a content rich affiliate site promoting a product at 20$ in a not too competitive industry? I don't need to get hung up on ...
