Ban on advertising targeting children

ban on advertising targeting children special research report Photo by
Since 2006, there have been motions to ban junk food advertising, mainly provided by the World Health Organisation. There have been mixed responses, but mainly health organisations have agreed with the idea. The move appears part of a larger effort to enhance health in the United States and elsewhere. In October 2004, the US federal government enacted new laws requiring school districts to adopt healthier nutritional guidelines and to establish a local school wellness policy by the beginning of the 2006-07 school year. In addition, Washington state lawmakers last year approved a measure directing school districts to develop ...

Advertising can also serve to communicate an idea to a mass amount of people in an attempt to convince them to take a certain action, such as encouraging 'environmentally friendly' behaviors, and even unhealthy behaviors through food ...

because kids that age don’t understand that advertising isn’t “real.” Bogusky, whose red-hot agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky handles Burger King (BK)’s account, wrote a surprisingly thoughtful essay on his blog that will be greeted by howls of rage at child specialist agencies such as Wonder Group , C3 BrandMarketing and The Geppetto Group (yes, Geppetto was the puppetmaster in Pinocchio ). One of the things you will absolutely never hear ad agency folk talk about is the age at which children are finally able to understand the difference between advertising and entertainment; and that ads are ... market research, surveys and trends

Their new bar, OhHenry! Pro is being promoted for both its protein content and its consequent great fit as a sports enhancement. Television commercials have folks eating OhHenry! Pro bars suddenly gaining great strength and agility and of course are aimed at teens with their music and content (skateboarding and cycling). So what is in this rocket propelled chocolate bar? 320 Calories, 21grams of fat (6grams saturated), 5 teaspoons of sugar and 12 grams of protein. McDonald's Lawsuit: Using Toys to Sell Happy Meals
Dangle a toy in front of a child's eyes, and you can bet the child will do just about anything to get it. And that's exactly what McDonald's (and other restaurants) do, using everything from TV commercials to signs in windows to the Internet in order to get kids to pester their parents to take them to the restaurant. It used to be that parents warned kids to run away from strangers offering candy, but companies have made an end run by laundering their perfidy through electronic media. Now kids absorb countless commercials touting premiums based on their favorite characters -- Shrek, Batman, Barbie, Beanie ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Effects of junk food - Yahoo! Answers
Junk food is food that is unhealthy and/or has little or no nutritional value. The term is believed to have been coined by Michael Jacobson, director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, in 1972.[1] The term has since come into common usage. Junk food contains high levels of refined sugar, white flour, trans fat and polyunsaturated fat, salt, and numerous food additives such as monosodium glutamate and tartrazine; at the same time, it is lacking in proteins, vitamins and fiber, among other healthy attributes. It is popular with suppliers because it is relatively cheap to manufacture, has a long shelf life and may ...
New rule? Quality Violations => Adwords ban
The email mentions that I have submitted several ads for landing pages that are considered to be of a poor quality and that the landingpage does not comply with the 'landing page and site quality guidelines'. I most remove the ads. Well, no problem. The email also mentions that it is a final warning. It tells me if they find any ad in the future that is in violation with the site quality guidelines (the product itself is not the problem) they will immediately disqualify me from participating in the AdWords program. Now, that is a problem. A bit strange? Also because Im using Adwords more then 4 years and then I ...
