billboards advertising signs large special research report Photo by
A major report has been issued that for the first time recommends policies to improve the safety of digital billboards by severely limiting appropriate locations for the signs and establishing new criteria governing sign behavior, including the frequency with which the brightly illuminated electronic images should be allowed to change. Written by renowned human-factors expert Jerry Wachtel, the report, Safety Impacts of the Emerging Digital Display Technology for Outdoor Advertising Signs , was produced as a project of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) of the American Association of State Highway and ...
Bulletins are the largest, most impactful standard-size billboards. Located primarily on major highways, expressways or principal arterials, they command high-density consumer exposure (mostly to vehicular traffic). Bulletins afford greatest visibility due not only to their size, but because they allow creative "customizing" through extensions and embellishments. Posters are the other common form of billboard advertising, located chiefly in commercial and industrial areas on primary and secondary arterial roads. Posters are a smaller format than bulletins and are viewed principally by residents and commuter traffic, ...
Study: Digital Billboards Don't Cause Accidents, People Do - The ...
Earlier this year, we talked about some of the controversies surrounding digital billboards. Proponents insist that they're cleaner than their analog variants, simpler to use, look better, and make outdoor advertising affordable to more companies, small and large. Haters say that they're unattractive energy hogs that distract drivers and cause accidents. Now, a new study shows that at least one of the opponents' complaints is baseless -- but it comes with a catch. The study in question comes from Tantala Associates, "a multi-disciplined, professional, consulting-engineering firm...established in 1966". ... market research, surveys and trends

(NYSE:CCO) to lock up industry-exclusive rights to eight high-tech digital billboards circling the Twin Cities, its largest market. Illegal billboards proliferating in vacant storefronts | San ...
City officials say this billboard in a vacant storefront is illegal, and they are working to have it removed. (Cindy Chew/The Examiner) SAN FRANCISCO — A bright-blue advertisement for Intel popped up on the shuttered storefront that used to be a Disney Store on Post Street in Union Square, becoming one of many vacant buildings that has been illegally plastered with promotions. Turning empty storefronts in San Francisco into advertisements is against city law and bothersome to anti-billboard advocates, but this latest trend in marketing is catching on. Advertising emergency-room wait times is helpful
Over the past decade, emergency department patient visits nationwide rose from 97 million to more than 123 million annually, an increase of almost 23 percent. This is far more than the natural growth of the population in general. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that most of the increase is due to the adult uninsured and Medicaid populations. Interestingly, no disproportional increase occurred in the pediatric or Medicare age groups. Further, the CDC attributed the increase to lack of primary care access. Many such practices cannot absorb more patients or accept the lower payments from these patients and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Electronic billboards called another distraction - The Tech
Safety advocates who worry about the dangers of distracted driving have a new concern beyond cell phones and gadget-laden dashboards: digital roadside billboards. These high-tech billboards marry the glow of Times Square with the immediacy of the Internet. Images change every six to eight seconds, so advertisers can flash timely messages — like the latest headlines, coffee deals at dawn, a cheeseburger at lunchtime or even the song playing on a radio station at that moment. The billboard industry asserts there is no research indicating they cause crashes, and notes that the signs do not use video or animation. But to critics, ...

Also what percent of a budget should be allocated to a billboard/billboards? With print advertising budgets decreasing, Internet budgets increasing, where do billboards stand? I know how to track ROI with dedicated phone numbers, web addresses, etc. I can't justify the expense for a dealer with a small ad budget spending 50% of it to test the ROI on a $3000/month billboard for a dealership. Any thoughts are appreciated. One last thought. I do know that the OEM pre-made generic billboards don't work for dealers. posted 4 months ago in Advertising | Closed Share This Marketing Manager at Honda/ Acura see all my answers ...
