Sometimes our industry gets so dern interesting, it’s just a pleasure to riffle through the headlines. Today was such a day. Good writing, interesting issues, and a slight touch of the optimistic, even on a day when the markets thought the world had ended. This is why I love our industry. To the links: The Death of Touch and the Lost Joy of the Unexpected (HuffPo/Ruxin) A pal pens a tribute to the physical. This feels like the first movement in a symphony. It’s not over yet. Creative Showcase: MySpace + World Cup - iMediaConnection.com
Our challenge with this campaign was to build awareness, excitement and buzz around adidas' involvement with the World Cup. Knowing that the core youth audience is very aware of overly overt marketing efforts, we wanted to design an interactive experience that appealed to the interests of the community, while showcasing adidas as the leader in soccer-related activity. We also built upon the "+10" concept adidas created around the World Cup. Our solution was to create a dynamic promotion with social networking site MySpace.com in order to attract and engage a youth audience worldwide. We designed the site to ... market research, surveys and trends
To Heck With The War of The Roses. This is War of The PushPins
Between 1455 and 1487, the English fought a series of wars over the monarchical succession. The wars, between the Houses of Lancaster and York, pitted Lancastrian Henry VI and his followers against Richard, Duke of York. It was a period of tremendous tumult, with uneasy peace broken up dozens of times by bloody battles. Thanks to Feedjit , a concern that makes free widgets for bloggers, Catalyst:SF has entered into its own internal war -- but our war is over push pins. And truth be told, it isn't much of a war at all, but I will get into that later. Back to Feedjit and how much fun their geo widget is. By planting a little ... market research, surveys and trends

DogTimeMedia fetches profit from pet-related sites - San Francisco ...
Founded in 2007, the 17-person San Francisco company has built a pet-focused network of 250 web site publishers and 275 bloggers through which it can sell advertising. Revenue this year is projected at $5 million. DogTimeMedia works to leverage the passion of pet owners while avoiding the logistical tangles that led online retailer Pets.com to become an icon of the dot-bomb era circa 2000. “Pets are second only to a child in the home. Eighty percent of guardians call themselves mommy and daddy,” said Trevor Wright, who co-founded the company with dot-com advertising phenom Rick Thompson. “We wanted to do it ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
CNN poll: 59 percent of Americans oppose just-passed health-reform ...
released today, 59 percent of Americans say they oppose the health-insurance reform bill passed Sunday night, while just 39 percent support it. (13 percent say they oppose it because it isn’t liberal enough.) On its face, that’s great news for the Republicans, and suggests that President Obama has a tough selling job in the weeks and months to come. It certainly gives the GOP some footing in their argument that the Democrats have overextended and will face a backlash come November. However, a couple of other numbers in the poll ought to undercut that optimism. Asked who they trust more to handle changes in health ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Memo to liberals: You're outnumbered
As the liberal blogosphere confab, Netroots Nation, kicks off today in Las Vegas, it will inevitably further the "Why are progressives disappointed in Obama ?" storyline. In the past few months, liberal commentators have bemoaned that the public option wasn’t included in the health care law, that the financial reform legislation -- which President Obama signed into law yesterday -- isn’t strong enough, and that Gitmo still isn't closed. The Nation's Eric Alterman even penned a widely discussed essay explaining these disappointments on a system that's stacked against progressives. But here is ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Urban legends of the fall - News
It was Jan. 6, the beginning of winter term at Oregon State University in 1967. Students slowly found their way to classes, expecting a cold, quiet, rainy three-month period. But their own assumptions had fooled them. When 20 students arrived at their Speech 113: Basic Persuasion class taught by Charles Goetzinger, they discovered a mysterious person sitting cross-legged on a desk in the classroom. Completely covered by black cloth, the cloaked student soon earned the nickname the "Black Bag." No one, save Goetzinger, knew who the Black Bag was or where he had come from. Absolutely no one knew what his purpose was. But ...

Which handbag/messenger bag/briefcase/luggage brands are the most ...
You cover a lot of ground--messenger bags, briefcases, luggage, and handbags. And, you don't specify male or female executive.   At a high level, I would agree with you that Tumi is definitely a popular brand for many executives, at least over the past 10-15 years.  Previously, you had brands like Hartmann and Atlas cases.   It is relatively easy to see a large spectrum of bags for male executives.  In the era of portable computers, these all need to be able to carry laptops. Tumi is certainly top of mind.  If you want to see where I have gone to shop for many years in NYC, go to this website: ...
Recommendations for a good inconspicuous camera bag for my D300 ...
I am looking for a good dSLR bag or similar that can be used to carry my Nikon D300 as well as a few cards, two lens, and not much else. The only requirement is that it doesn't draw attention as a camera bag or the like. I need to invest in one before May 1. Please let me know your suggestions. posted April 8, 2008 in Graphic Design | Closed Share This I carry my D80 in a Crumpler. They don't look at all like camera bags, but I've found that they're so well padded, it's sometimes tough to get the camera out! I wonder if you might do better get a comfortable backpack/messenger bag, and outfit it with ...
