chinese restaurant advertising special research report Photo by
We're moving in two days - or by the time this is posted - TODAY. Melanie, bless her heart, lets me write posts in advance and she schedules them for release on Saturdays, or more often if I'm up to it. So, if you were thinking I spend my Friday nights and early Saturday mornings writing for FGE, in actual fact they are written earlier in the week while I'm watching horrible things on TLC like Hoarding: Buried Alive and the Woman with Half a Body . Anyway, I'm late getting this to Melanie, because yes, I'm busy packing (Why why why do I have so much crap?  Maybe I should have paid more attention to ...
A McDonald's restaurant is operated by either a franchisee, an affiliate, or the corporation itself. The corporation's revenues come from the rent, royalties and fees paid by the franchisees, as well as sales in company-operated restaurants. McDonald's revenues grew 27% over the three years ending in 2007 to $22.8 billion, and 9% growth in operating income to $3.9 billion. McDonald's primarily sells hamburgers , cheeseburgers , chicken products, french fries , breakfast items, soft drinks , shakes , and desserts . In response to obesity trends in Western nations and in the face of criticism over the ...

the fry-up and other stories
Ate our first authentic English fry-up this morning.  Premise: take one fried egg, one oversized sausage, one "rasher of bacon" (i.e., slab of ham) and dump them all atop a plate swimming with Heinz baked beans.  Now eat for breakfast.  It was surprisingly good, so good in fact that when shortly afterwards a little old lady asked us to help her cross the street we said yes.  That makes the second elderly person to ask for our assistance since we've been here.  The elderly, God bless them, seem to find us trustworthy.  How blind they are.  Then we bought 3 books at Waterstones, ... market research, surveys and trends

Chopstick's General Tso's Tofu big mealtime hit
I took my friends Maryam and Jason to Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant's new location, 1715F Wilma Rudolph Blvd., which opened several weeks ago. Knowing that the restaurant caters to carry-out customers and is proud of its drive-through, I was shocked to see pages and pages of entree and sushi choices on its menu. We started with crab rangoon, which was free with purchase of two dinner entrees thanks to a coupon from The Leaf-Chronicle, but is normally $3.50. Although tasty, the fried appetizer was unappealingly greasy, with oil still dripping from the wontons as we tried to eat them. We tried several sushi rolls, including ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Editorial Roundup: Excerpts From Recent Editorials
Transocean, the company that owns the oil drilling platform where the Gulf leak occurred, moved its headquarters from Houston to Switzerland to avoid paying U.S. taxes. It still has 1,300 people in Houston, and about 12 in Switzerland. It saved $1.8 billion in taxes, according to a study by Martin A. Sullivan, an economist for the trade publication Tax Analysts. BP leases the platform from Transocean to take advantage of a tax break that permits it to write off most of the rental cost, a tax deduction of $82 million a year on that transaction alone. Then the macro. The oil industry pays far less than American business in general ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Running a Restaurant: Advertising & Bringing In Customers ...
My girlfriends family have recently opened a Chinese Restaurant. They have been opened for a couple of months now but are looking to bring in more customers especially during the Monday to Thursday part of the week. They are looking for suggestions of how best to do this and how they should go about advertising and getting their name out there. Through advertising, promotions, new ideas etc. Have you please got any suggestions or information that may help. Thanks. Answer Dear Dominic, The best way to promote their restaurant is to provide exceptional hospitality that will convert to "word of mouth" advertising for them.

'Chance Auction' is much more annoying as it's a classic piece of mealy mouthed political correctness where it's not needed. This type of raffle cum auction is in English called a Chinese Auction. Being afraid to use traditional ethnic names in non-offensive manner is one of the things that destroyed any credibility the original idea of PC was trying to achieve (e.g NOT calling people Niggers or Wops or Kikes which became eventually deliberately derisive though it didn't start that way). The same as the fools who misunderstand the 'man' in 'manhole' for example and want ...
