While working in New Zealand for Telecom New Zealand in their Business Marketing group, I had the opportunity to work closely ... market research, surveys and trends
What a package designer reads || Packaging Sense
I am often asked the question: “from where do you get your creativity?” The answer is: “mostly in keeping my eyes open, from storechecking, and being curious. That is what I would call the visual input to my brain. However, these images need stimuli to be of value and this stimulation comes from my verbal memory, from books I have read. In the communication business the visual and the verbal go hand in hand. I therefore take all opportunities to learn from the masters. Masters in typography, design, management, marketing, etc. I have noticed that most schools do not offer a ‘good list of books to read’ and this is why I will ... market research, surveys and trends

Let Your Headline Sells Your Product | Web Copy Blog
According to David Ogilvy, founder of the Ogilvy & Mather advertising agency and author of Confessions of an Advertising Man and Ogilvy on Advertising, “On the average, five times as many people read the headlines as read the body copy.  It follows that, unless your headline sells your product, you have wasted 90 percent of your money” Here’s a plan for crafting never-fail headlines: Step 1.  Write 30 to 50 headlines before you decide on the one you’re going to use. Step 2.  Step back from the headline for a day and read it again with a fresh perspective. Step 3.  Ask yourself, “How can this headline be better?”  “Is this the ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Confessions of a first-time festival-goer
A woman I know has a word for the tiresomely fashionable crowd in her part of east London who go about in absurdist creations assembled out of what look like their grandmother's curtains. They should be called fashankers, she says – fashion wankers – and when I wondered why it was that I'd never been to Hay before, a similar word came to mind. What had always put me off was a vague idea that the festival would be full of nothing but smug, middle-class – well, smankers. Arriving duly armed with this rather churlish prejudice, it must be said that first impressions do not exactly disabuse it. The town of Hay is ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Advertising Copy: How to Write Headlines That Get Read
In fact, David Ogilvy, famous ad man and author of Confessions of an Advertising Man, has said that four out of five people only read headlines. Nothing more.
