A few times recently I’ve felt that brief wave of sadness and longing in the pit of my stomach that signals a nostalgic episode. I am not convinced easily. But I love a good argument, scientific explanations, basic logic, and just common sense reasoning. Employ any of the above, and chances are that I will be persuaded. This is why you will never be able to get me to believe in a god (no empirical back-up!) but a TV commercial could get me to suddenly want something I never thought I needed. Rationality is power – but, in combination with emotions , it is my biggest weakness. Advertisers: you should remember that!
