than for candy and cookies, a new study reveals, and researchers also found race is a factor when it comes to exposure to food ads, reports the Los Angeles Times. A study out of the University of Illinois at Chicago took into account ratings data from Nielsen Media Research for 2003, 2005 and 2007, and found that, by 2007, the ads most frequently viewed by kids of all ages were for fast food. Burger joints dethroned the former king of kids' advertising -- cereal -- which ruled the airwaves in 2003.Researchers also looked at kids and food advertising by race, and found that young African-American TV viewers in three age ...

Burger King got served -- by independent regulator of sales promotions in the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The agency ruled against the fast food company's Tendercrisp campaign, alleging the television advertisements may mislead customers to believe the chicken burgers are heftier than the reality of their drive-through counterparts. The commercial in question features a man shacked up in a motel with a substantially portioned and prettily composed Cheesy Bacon Tendercrisp. Healthy Food & Healthy Living by Dr. Ayala: Marketing to kids ...
Kids watch TV about three and a half hours a day. They’re exposed to it as background many hours more. Advertizing on TV therefore remains the central vehicle brands use to reach kids. Ads are clever and compelling, and their effect on kids—especially young ones—is very clear. The Institute of Medicine reviewed the scientific literature and concluded that ads influence food consumption and that the current food and beverage marketing practices put children's long-term health at risk. In 2006, in response to criticism from many health organizations and children advocates, the Council of Better Business Bureaus launched the ... market research, surveys and trends

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser
"Everyone frets about the nutritional implications of excessive dining at America's fast-food emporia, but few grasp the significance of how fast-food restaurants have fundamentally changed the way Americans eat. Schlosser documents the effects of fast food on America's economy, its youth culture, and allied industries, such as meatpacking, that serve this vast food production empire. Starting with a young woman who makes minimum wage working at a Colorado fast-food restaurant, Schlosser relates the oft-told story of Ray Kroc's founding of ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

"Fast-food customers are crossing menu lines," said Bob Sandelman of Sandelman & Associates, the firm based here that conducted the poll. "There's no such thing anymore as a strict `burger user' or `chicken user.' Beyond fastfood
Filipinos are used to good service in the food industry -- one may even say we are "pampered" when it comes to dining in, with trained servers at the beck and call of the customer. But for those days when the weather is uncooperative, the person indisposed or busy with work and disinclined to go out, and wants the food brought in rather than expending personal time and effort to get to the food, then there’s always delivery. Calling specific fastfood restaurants and pizza parlors for the usual chicken bucket or 10-inch pie is common practice but when money is not a problem, one can opt for the so-called ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

The real problem is twofold: the parents are neither shielding their children from these brainwashings, nor are they preparing the children to deal with nor resist these messages. In fact, most indications in children I've dealt with in education is that the children are all but encouraged to accept these messages and act on the urges they create.    In other words, the blame is always with the parents, not so much with the business that takes advantage of the market the parents create.   by buffee on Dec 31 2008 (19 months ago) I am totally against ALL fastfood places.
