Alternative Advertising Strategies At The Gas Pump
Gas pumps provide many great OOH opportunities to reach consumers. The progression of advertising displays has evolved very quickly; it began with the gas topper at the pump, then with the gas pump handle itself, and later with branding every item from the windshield squeegee to the trash cans. Today, with the introduction of digital advertising, you can reach a consumer with store specials or interactive information as they stand there with nothing to do. The unique and alternative out of home advertising possibilities are nearly limitless at the pump. Your Client's Ad at the Gas Pump
Advertisers are always looking to reach people where there’s a chance to get their undivided attention, and one venue that fits that description to a T is the pump island at gas stations. There’s simply not much to look at filling one’s tank, which makes them ideal places for ad messages. When we think of pump island advertising we may think of static signage on the top of gas pumps, which has been around for a long time. But there are plenty of other options as well. If we think of an island as a staging area of sorts, there’s an almost unlimited number of opportunities to connect with consumers, from ... market research, surveys and trends

Digital Signage News: October 2008
We've been hearing so much about folks in the industry having trouble getting financing, compelling customers to go through with planned projects and even getting senior execs to approve supposedly "pre-approved" budgets. While I don't think there's going to be a quick-and-easy solution to any of these things (thanks a lot sub-prime borrowers and greedy lenders) a bunch of us will be meeting up in Chicago in a few weeks trying to figure out how to help people get through the economic mess we're in right now. I used to only buy gas at BP stations as they were considered to be the best gasoline, invest in alternative energy sources, and not be tied with middle east oil reserves. However, they recently obtained a permit to increase dumping into Lake Michigan. This dumping includes mercury. So much for the environmentally friendliness BP advertises.
