The Crown Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, is offering a free meal to any guest who is able to produce electricity for the hotel on an exercise bike attached to a generator. Guests will have to produce at least 10 watt hours of electricity - roughly 15 minutes of cycling for someone of average fitness. They will then be given meal vouchers worth $36 (26 euros). Heritage Watch - Compiled Threads [Archive] - SkyscraperCity
I was a little adamant in starting this thread as I dont know how long would it last, however, since our countrys heritage sites and historic landmarks are slowly disappearing, heres hoping that this thread would serve as message board to save the remaining structures that we have. Id like to start with a place closer to home: Manila (I would also like to encourage everyone from other regions/ provinces to post here. I will send the weblink of this thread to government agencies and NGOs). An old house along San Rafael Street will be demolished sometime soon. I took some pictures yesterday during the San Miguel walk: ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Visual Pollution Caused by Advertising | LinkedIn Answers | LinkedIn
My guess is that multinationals are willing to provide an advertising payment to the local authorities (landlords and municipal authorities) that is relatively impressive. Without an opposing reason to forgo the payment, the village accepts the advertising and ends up with a piece of artwork designed by someone who doesn't live in their environment and doesn't know how to fit the ad to the space. I can imagine a solution where advertising companies are encouraged to build designs that fit the location, possibly by photographing campaigns that fit/don't fit and posting them online. What is Venice like? - Yahoo! Answers
Picture a medieval city: narrow, winding streets (width 2-3 m=7-10' or less) called "calle" (pl. "calli"), houses of red bricks, max 3-4 floors, some in disrepair, some with carved stone elements (windows, doors). Moreover, it's build on a group of little islands, so every 10 m or so the street ends in a little stone bridge to pass over a channel (called "rio", pl "rii"), little larger than the street itself. Here and there, the streets enlarge in small piazzas (called "campo", pl. "campi"). It's at the sea, so there's marine smell and seagulls almost everywhere, and also pigeons. Some ...
