The web world of designs is going more humane, aesthetic, and functional in appeal. As the web industry is fickle, more and more designs trends are on their full pace. A Rugmark label on the back of a rug indicates that no child labor was used in the making of it. Rugmark randomly inspects carpet factories. Chronicle photo by Chris Stewart As if it's not enough for the consumer to wonder about deadly E. coli in a bag of spinach, ozone-depleting VOCs in a bucket of paint or cancer-causing chemicals in a can of bug spray, an international nonprofit is urging rug shoppers to do their part to stamp out child labor. Social History :Flight-Inspired Design and Architecture
Technology has always been the underpinning of architectural innovation. Each new invention, from the arch to structural steel, allowed architects to create buildings that were bigger, taller, and stronger. In the 20 th century, however, technology was not just the driver of engineering advances. It was also design inspiration. Freelance designers, where do you work? | LinkedIn Answers | LinkedIn
I'm with Khalil. In fact I work at home, the office and sometimes on site depending on client needs. I find the change refreshing. I think I am most productive at my office though. I can only speak to our situation, but we are a two person design shop and we are incorporated, but we are basically glorified freelancers. We love doing the craft and don't want employees, but we do contract out work. We have always had an office, because when we started in the early 90's that was what you did. I got into the habit of working in the office, and with two children it simply makes sense. I also struggle with distractions ...
Advice for advertising CD considering quitting? | Ask MetaFilter
NYC big ad agency creative director with art background is considering quitting his job to look for another, in this economy. Would really appreciate some advice... The person in question (seriously not me, but still anon to be safe) is a friend who badly needs advice and I'm doing everything I can to help. His current job is horribly mismanaged which results in a steady 65+ hour work week with no chance to see family and not much chance for creative success since project schedules are too tight. No exaggeration here, he's had some terrible bosses and situations in his time and handled it fine, but this is really ...
