(officially, a "Platform Application") actively spreading on the social networking site which ultimately prompts users to install the infamous "Zango" adware/spyware. The malicious widget, called "Secret Crush" first appears as a Facebook request, as shown below in Figure 1: In opening the request, the recipient is informed that one of his/her friends has invited him/her to find out more information by using "Secret Crush" (this happens frequently with Facebook's Platform Application). was a software company that provided users access to its partners' videos, games, tools and utilities in exchange for viewing targeted advertising placed on their computers. Zango software is listed as adware by Symantec . Computer security company McAfee said in 2005 "this program may have legitimate uses", but described it as a "potentially unwanted program", and an "adware downloader". In April 2009 Zango closed its doors after its banks foreclosed. Hotbar, Seekmo, and ZangoCash, formerly owned by Zango, continue to operate as part of Pinball Corporation.
How Expedia Funds Spyware
Unwanted advertising programs -- typically called spyware -- are funded by thousands of the world's largest companies and most respected advertisers. Ask most of these advertisers about their support for spyware, and they'll say they didn't know. After all, their affiliates might have bought the ads. Their outsourced advertising placement firms might have made the decisions. Or pay-per-click search engines (including Google and Yahoo) might have syndicated their ads to spyware vendors, without advertisers' knowledge or consent. (Details: Google , Yahoo ) But a few advertisers have the ... market research, surveys and trends
Zango sneaks onto FaceBook users' PCs - ZoneAlarm Blog ...
Is the Internet really dangerous? As you surf, are you *really* at risk? The answer is YES, but nothing hits a point home like a modern-day example. The example comes from our old “friends” at Zango (formerly 180Solutions). Those who follow ZoneAlarm events will remember the court case 180Solutions brought against us just a couple years back for protecting our customers from installing their application. They eventually dropped the complaint after we refused to back down (, but that didn’t stop Zango from continuing their tricky tactics.   It ... market research, surveys and trends

180solutions lands a $40 million deal
Bellevue-based 180solutions, a fast-growing online advertising company that was on the brink of bankruptcy just two years ago, has landed $40 million in venture capital that it will use to deliver targeted advertisements to millions of Internet users. The financing, which closed earlier this month with backing from Spectrum Equity Investors, is one of the biggest first-round deals in the state in the past decade. It will help fuel an aggressive expansion at the 5-year-old company that includes the introduction of two new business units, the hiring of 150 employees and plans to top $50 million in sales this year. The money will ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Spyware is a recent addition to the growing list of Internet security problems. Spyware exists because it collects information that has financial value. This information is important to Internet vendors and advertisers -- they use it to build profiles of Internet behavior at large or to display targeted advertisements (e.g., browser pop-ups) to users. A new approach to address the proliferation of spyware programs is to create counterfeit information. This technique does not prevent spyware installations, nor does it recover from them; instead, it focuses on ...

What do I do to permanently remove 180Solutions.Zango? - Yahoo ...
I always do daily antispy scans but Windows Defender BETA, Ad-Aware, and Spybot-Search and Destroy never EVER detect 180Solutions.Zango, but Yahoo! Antispy does. I really hate it and I really want to get rid of it and make it stop bugging my computer so much. What should I do to permanently remove this annoying piece of adware, once and for all? I don't know why my computer keeps on being infected with 180Solutions.Zango, and I don't have anything that was made by Zango at all. Just telling me to remove it from Add and Remove Programs will not help. 4 years ago Hi there, Here's some detailed ...
