Cuts in jobs, in advertising revenue, in circulation, in ratings: in short, cuts in every meaningful indicator of how successful the Mainstream Media is. Which is to say, they’re not. Not doing their job, not successful. What the MSM is selling–liberal viewpoints, solutions, hand-wringing, harangues and advice–is the one area news consumers aren’t buying. Some news blurbs from the last week amplify this point. NBC is closing their Chicago and Dallas bureaus. NBC: Atlanta, which has managed Miami and New Orleans assignments, will add Dallas. Cultural rituals & core experiences
"If it doesn't come from here," Enrico Labayen says, pointing to his head and his heart, "it doesn't mean a thing. All of this movement, just the arm, the leg – what is that? Dancing isn't moving from point one to point two. It's everything in-between, everything you are feeling and creating." This holistic perspective informs every aspect of Labayen's work, to create dance that is Filipino in essence but universal in appeal and experience. His dance both recalls the ritual and tradition of his Asian background and explores technology and Western modes of expression. Public Relations: PR/Advertising....the job for me?, PR, pay scale
Hi! I'm currently going to school towards a degree in communications, and I believe that Advertising is the job choice for me. I do, however, wonder exactly how competitive of a field this is. After watching various movies, I have fallen in love with the career (for example: Mel Gibson in "What Women Want" or the 2 main characters in "How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days"). The job seems to involve intense creativity and a quick mind. Are there ever times where you feel you get a sort of "writer's block" and are frustrated in getting work done? And is this a high paying career? Thank you!! Answer
