Political Sign Rules and Regulations

Perhaps not surprisingly, even some signs supporting presidential candidates for the 2008 election have begun appearing. So, questions are often asked at this time of the year as to a city's or county's authority to regulate such signs, particularly in the public right-of-way. Although this kind of political expression is at the core of the free speech protections of the federal and state constitutions, people may not put up campaign signs wherever they please. They must respect the ...
The trucking industry (also referred to as the transportation or logistics industry) involves the transport and distribution of commercial and industrial goods using commercial motor vehicles (CMV). In this case, CMVs are most often trucks ; usually semi trucks , box trucks , or dump trucks . Charter Cities? Hong Kong, colonialism, and curing global poverty
Paul Romer is a very widely respected economist and scholar.  I therefore read with great interest an article in The Atlantic concerning his radical vision for combating global poverty. Basically, Romer would seed the Third World with First World-run enclaves of law and order that could, in his view, serve both as engines for economic growth and for the spread of good government and the rule of law.    In essence, he’s looking at creating 21st Century versions of British-run Hong Kong. Romer’s ideas are provocative and thought provoking, but also terribly problematic.  First,  as the article notes, it is difficult to ... market research, surveys and trends

Well before Congress reached agreement on the details of its financial overhaul legislation, industry lobbyists and consumer advocates started preparing for the next battle: influencing the creation of several hundred new rules and regulations, Binyamin Appelbaum writes in The New York Times. The bill, completed early Friday and expected to come up for a final vote this week, is basically a 2,000-page missive to federal agencies, instructing regulators to address subjects ranging from derivatives trading to document retention. Supreme Court strikes down Chicago handgun ban
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court held Monday that the Constitution's Second Amendment restrains government's ability to significantly limit "the right to keep and bear arms," advancing a recent trend by the John Roberts-led bench to embrace gun rights. By a narrow, 5-4 vote, the justices also signaled, however, that some limitations on the right could survive legal challenges. Writing for the court in a case involving restrictive laws in Chicago and one of its suburbs, Justice Samuel Alito said that the Second Amendment right "applies equally to the federal government and the states." market trends, news research and surveys resources

I mean do others (outsiders) really care about a nations politics and government, at least until they have an interest to protect? I suppose one could argue however that perhaps reason is more likely to take hold in a place where people have something to lose....although I am not sure if that holds up very well when this argument is used where it is likely that only 1% of a particular nation is likely to really benefit from the "economic development". 1 month ago There are currently no comments for this question. * You must be logged into Answers to add comments.
