Metaphors of the network.
A decade after the invention of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee is promoting the “Semantic Web”. The Internet hitherto is a repository of digital content. It has a rudimentary inventory system and very crude data location services. As a sad result, most of the content is invisible and inaccessible. Moreover, the Internet manipulates strings of symbols, not logical or semantic propositions. In other words, the Net compares values but does not know the meaning of the values it thus manipulates. It is unable to interpret strings, to infer new facts, to deduce, induce, derive, or otherwise comprehend what it is ... market research, surveys and trends

more budget deficits. Revenues are trickling in, the economic turn-around (if it's even happening) is sloooow and there are danger signs of a double-dip for the Great Recession. A sobering report on the "job gap" from the Brookings Institution says that for the U.S. to get employment back where it was before the bust in 2008, and to accommodate all the new people entering the workforce (like those kids graduating from college), it will realistically take 11 years. So, happy days might be here again, in the year 2021. In other words, don't look for a fast end to the economic slows. This means we're going ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Apple's iAd: What Developers Think
It’s been about a week since Apple rolled out its new advertising platform, and developers of iPhone apps are watching the earliest returns to see how much money they can expect to make from these ads. Reuters Apple CEO Steve Jobs spoke about the iAd platform in April. Several developers have reported seeing tremendous returns on the iAd platform, but those who spoke with Digits said they didn’t believe those results were sustainable. One developer reported Thursday on Hacker News that he had earned $1,400 in one day via iAd, for a simple application that turns the flash on the iPhone 4’s camera into a flashlight. ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

As a nonprofit organization, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary found that it is critical to have a broad base of funding support that includes both restricted and unrestricted funding sources. The Partnership struggled with early disappointing returns from their annual appeals. They learned to fine tune their efforts, however, and have since made annual appeals a key part of their funding strategy. Since the Partnership's incorporation in 1996, it realized the importance of unrestricted funding and worked to develop strategies to raise this type of funding. When the Partnership began its annual appeal program, it ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics
