¡Vivo en España! 6.11.10 » Imagewest: Student-run Advertising and ...
We made it! Imagewest is living and working in Spain. We’re settled into our temporary home (thanks Mariela), we’ve had a good Spanish meal, bought groceries in the supermercado and discovered just enough about local transportation to be dangerous. Things we’ve learned so far… 1. The Catalan language is not “almost like” Spanish. 2. The Sant Andreu Arenal railway station cannot be reached from the San Andreu Metro station (get off at Fabra i Puig instead to catch a train to La Garriga). 3. Food is either really expensive or really cheap. 4. Pasta is “fantastico” with pesto, chicken and out-of-date mozzarella. 5. Flip-flops ... market research, surveys and trends

June 25, 2010- When The Washington Post’s Dana Priest first revealed (in passing) back in January that the Obama administration had compiled a hit list of American citizens targeted for assassination, she wrote that “as of several months ago, the CIA list included three U.S. citizens.” In April, both the Post and the NYT confirmed that the administration had specifically authorized the assassination of Anwar al-Awlaki. Today, The Washington Times’ Eli Lake has an interview with Obama’s top Terrorism adviser John Brennan in which Brennan strongly suggests that the number of U.S. citizens targeted for ... market research, surveys and trends

Business 2.0: Blogging for Dollars - September 1, 2006
(Business 2.0) -- Michael Arrington is a partying kind of guy. While showing off his home in Atherton, Calif., he boasts about how he crammed 500 people into his one-acre backyard at a bash in February. Then there are the official parties, like the one he threw in mid-August at August Capital, a nearby venture firm. Arrington posted an open invitation on his website at 3 a.m. By sunrise, all 500 spots were taken; the onslaught of traffic crashed his site. "I knew it would be fast," says Arrington, who houses so many out-of-towners in his ranch home that he often isn't sure who's crashing on which mattress on which ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

“How relevant is my work, and does it correspond to the life of an artist – even as I conceived it? Is it art or something else? I still don’t know if I’ll ever find an answer.” Who can blame him? Jean-Paul Goude is an eccentric talent, and he’s turned his skills to many different applications over the years, including art direction, photography, moving images and even performance art, by way of his formidable former girlfriend and muse, Grace Jones. Goude was born in 1940 in a small suburb of Paris to a French father and American mother who had both been involved with showbiz in New York. At age 6, Mohamed Alessa declared to his parents that he would someday become the first Muslim president of the United States — "President Mohamed," he would be called. But even at a young age, his parents said their son suffered from the uncontrollable rages that would plague him throughout his teens and fuel run-ins with school officials and law enforcement. Advertising: COLLEGE STUDENT WITH QUESTIONS, account management ...
I was wondering if you could answer the following questions for me. I am a college student who is preparing to write a formal career report, and I am interested in a career in advertising. I have some general questions on advertising and more specifically, copywriting: - What is a typical work-day like? - What kinds of people tend to do well as a copywriter? - What do you find most appealing about copywriting? Most unappealing? - What training and/or experience are required? - What is the current health of the advertising industry? - What is the next step after graduating with a degree if someone wants to enter this ...
How can I make the best portfolio...EVER? | Ask MetaFilter
How can I put together an amazing portfolio for potential employers, as an advertising student? (I have the content, but need to decide what to put in the portfolio...and more importantly decide what to house my portfolio in!) Trips to Office Max/Office Depot/other big box retailers have yielded nothing. I don't want to be the guy who has everything he wants to show off shoved in a three ring binder! Some of what I have: -A few magazine ads -A couple larger posters (18 x 11 I think) -A few 30 second commercials -A vector logo made in Illustrator -Tons of ideas, shared and solo work. (For a project a group of 4 of us took ...
