Here Comes a Bankruptcy Boom - Rick Newman (usnews.com)
If you've been saving your cash for fire sales at bankrupt retailers, don't blow it all at Circuit City. Many other companies are likely to end up in even worse shape over the next year. So far in 2008, there have been a few name-brand bankruptcies—like the recent Circuit City filing, Linens-n-Things, Frontier Airlines, and Mrs. Fields Cookies—plus the colossal liquidation of Lehman Brothers. But believe it or not, it has been a fairly calm year for bankruptcy judges, by one important measure: the corporate default rate. The share of corporate bonds in default over the past 12 months, which goes hand in ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Can i sell my house to my daughter before I file bankruptcy ...
My house is now worth $90,000 but I owe $144,000. I was thinking can I sell my house to my daughter since she is approved for $86,000 and then file bankruptcy on the difference? Lenders will not allow a short sale to a family member - looks too much like fraud & usually is. Bankruptcy also does a look back and would find issue with that transaction. File bankruptcy including the home. Maybe your daughter can buy it when it comes back on the market if you are both very attached to it. However your daughter is not responsible for you or your home. If you are stretched to make the monthly payment and this is your primary home, ...
What is going to happen to gmgmq shares when GM comes out of ...
In my review, there is a 99.999% chance that GM equity will be canceled upon completion of the bankruptcy, thus will become worthless. There is an outside chance (like the odds of winning the lottery) that GM may have a 1-100 reverse split but only after diluting the stock down to 1 or 2 cents par value. This would mean the stock would drop to 1 or 2 cents then split. So you would end up with a 99% loss. So not exactly a lottery win in the end huh? According to a filing by GM to the SEC this above was the proposal PRIOR to the bankruptcy. The same SEC filing also states that in the event of GM bankruptcy which we know is fact ...
