It is no denying that every successful business is grounded on a recognizable, appealing and unique brand. In most cases, successful branding is able to create a consciousness that many people can easily associate a product or service with. Having a unique and recognizable brand, therefore, is the key to the success of any business endeavor. Not only is branding the company's symbol, it is also the company's face to the world; thus, a business without a brand is a business without a face.   There are actually several reasons why a business, large or small, should create its own brand, but I have listed four of the best ...
This leaves vast expanses of the state nearly uninhabited, making the population the sixth most urbanized in the U.S. The name "Utah" is derived from the name of the Ute tribe and means "people of the mountains" in the Ute language . Utah is bordered by Arizona on the south, Colorado on the east, Wyoming on the northeast, Idaho on the north and Nevada on the west. It also touches a corner of New Mexico . Utah is one of the most religiously homogeneous states in the Union. Why Branding is Important to NC State HiceSchool Blog
I had a good conversation today with James Gallagher from the Triangle Business Journal about university communications and our efforts to develop a new NC State television spot.  We talked about why branding is necessary in higher education and it got me thinking about a story I put together about university branding back in 2005.  I think it’s still pertinent today and have made a number of edits to bring it up to date. Branding is an investment in the future.  It is an investment in the university’s ability to compete effectively for students, faculty, staff, and funding. In the competitive world of higher education, ... market research, surveys and trends
Why Branding is Important – Bruno vs. Harry Potter | Internet ...
Last Friday Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie Bruno came out and topped box offices with a whopping $30.4 Million, only to see diminishing returns for the remainder of the weekend.  It is unusual that a movie begins to drop just the day after, but in Bruno’s case it did.  The newest installment of the Harry Potter series opened this past Wednesday with an unheard of $104 million worldwide, with more people expected to see it this coming weekend.  Despite Bruno not having great success after its opening day compared to Harry Potter’s unrivaled success, both of these movies have one glaring commonality; both of these film’s online ... market research, surveys and trends

And now a response to the Mad Men piece from yesterday that appears on one of my favorite blogs, The Educational Marketing Group, Inc. Michael Armini of Northeastern wrote an engaging viewpoint piece for Inside Higher Ed last Thursday:  “Beware Higher Ed’s ‘Mad Men.’ ” It’s a nicely-written opinion piece that warns institutions to avoid quick-fix branding from “mad men” marketers, a reference to the AMC cable show that caricatures Madison Avenue of the 1960’s. And Michael is right, to a degree.  Building a reputation or changing how you’re being perceived takes lots of time and commitment.  Sustainable brands aren’t created ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Brand Champions: January 2010
I pondered that question yesterday when I read about the multi-year partnership LeBron James signed with McDonald's. Since McDonald's tends to try and appeal to kids and their parents, on the surface it makes sense that LeBron James would be a good fit. He is a likable young man and has been successful pitching brands like Nike and Coke. The problem I have with this situation and others like it is the fact that LeBron James, like athletes in other sports, was not required to have a degree before being hired into his profession. In fact, LeBron never attended college. Yes, I know people like Bill Gates never ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Promoting Israel in a Downturn
It is somewhat out of the ordinary for The New York Times Travel section to devote two feature articles to a single city within a three-month span. It is even more surprising that the pieces did not focus on a tourism capital like London, Paris or Rome, but instead on a city in the Middle East. Yet, it has happened — to Tel Aviv. A recent Times article devoted to Tel Aviv noted that a multitude of art galleries have helped transform the city into one of the world’s cultural capitals, especially for the plastic arts. This article joins a stream of pieces, published during the past year in leading newspapers and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
