Why join a group and what keeps or prevents you participating ...
I'm curious why people join professional associations, interest groups (e.g. alumni chapters or hobby chapters) and what makes them keep coming back and contributing to the group. What makes you join? If you belong to some groups but don't participate, what barriers do you face and what would open up the way for you to participate more? If you belong and always find a way to participate, what makes it possible or motivates you to find the way to do it? What can volunteer organizers do to make a community self-sustaining?
