The Ethical Executive
Hardly a month goes by – or so it seems – without yet another headline about apparent unethical behavior in the executive suite: from criminal misrepresentation, to tax evasion, manipulation of accounts, and a whole smorgasbord of fraud. Not surprisingly, as investors, employees, legislators, or simply bemused observers of human behavior, we all want the answer to one question, “Are today’s corporate leaders unusually corrupt?” The disconcerting answer is that these leaders are no different than you or us. Even if we have good ethical values to begin with, given certain situational or internal pressures, every one of ... market research, surveys and trends | Business | Carroll: Considering the ethics of ...
People listen to information from the group Mexicans Without Borders regarding a resolution to limit services to illegal immigrants recently in Virginia. Associated Press   |     |   Story updated at 9:53 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2007 Typically, in business ethics, if a practice is illegal, this is considered prima facie evidence that it also is unethical. In the abstract, I guess, there might be some actions that are illegal but ethical in business, but it would be a stretch to name one. This raises an interesting question: What are the ethics of illegal immigration? This cannot be completely answered in one ... market research, surveys and trends

Not only is Vince Dooley a Hall of Fame football coach but he is a Master Gardener, too. I just got a copy of his new book, “Vince Dooley’s Garden: The Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach.” (Looking Glass Books) How many people do you know who have had a hydrangea named after them (Hydrangea Macrophylla, also known as the “Dooley”) and can recognize an over/under 4-3 defense? I asked him about his son, Derrick, the new head football coach at Tennessee. “I think he will do fine,” proud Poppa said, “but I told him I wish he had gone to a school not so close to his home state.” Derrick’s response: “Didn’t you come to ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

International Business Ethics // Books // University of Notre Dame ...
The dramatic increase of international business since the 1980s has been a highly complex and rather opaque processs, despite the rhetorics both of globalization and the triumphant advance of capitalism. Enormous ethical challenges have come to the fore, which need thoughtful and courageous practical initiatives as well as academic expertise. International Business Ethics: Challenges and Approaches , edited by Georges Enderle, is a pioneer in this widely uncharted field of international business ethics. This volume includes the work of 39 contributors, half of them from non-Western countries, first presented at the First World ...

PG Alternatives for R-rated Business Ethics movies | Ask MetaFilter
They make for good discussion and a change of pace from lots of tough reading. This semester for the first time I have a student who does not watch rated-R movies. I want to accomodate the student. So I'm looking for movies with themes equivalent or similar to these three movies that are rated below R, and preferably PG or G. Any ideas? Somebody's going to say it, so I may as well get it out of the way: If this student is so sheltered and sensitive that he or she can't watch movies that are rated R for language, he or she will never survive real work in business ethics. Perhaps your duties as a teacher would ...
