According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the manufacturing sector is the largest contributor to e-commerce sales (35% of total shipments), followed by merchant wholesalers (21.2%). These two segments make up the business-to-business category. While retailers and service providers generated just 3.2% and 1.6% of their revenues online, these are the fastest growing segments. The Bureau categorizes these two segments as business-to-consumer. [2007 ...
designed to serve as a portal for Cyber Monday deals and offers. In store shopping continues to dwarf online shopping - the most taken in a single day online was $881 million on December 7, 2007, while Black Friday in 2007 took in $41 billion. 1 Since its inception, critics contend that consumer purchasing habits represent more of a static growth throughout the Christmas and holiday season as opposed to one day in which companies "see any (unusual) traffic" on websites. It has been postulated that through mainstream media adoption of the term, combined with retailers hoping to drive more traffic to their sites, that ...

Usability Study: Men Need Speed - web usability criteria show ...
In a recent usability survey, researchers from Southern Illinois University found that after ease of use, men prefer fast download speed to easy navigation. Women prefer ease of use, easy navigation, and accessibility. The researchers hypothesize that these different usability criteria are due to differences in how men and women use the Web. The importance of download speed, for most Web users, has long been established (King 2008). Fast response times foster higher flow states (Skadberg & Kimmel 2004), higher conversion rates (Akamai 2007), higher perceived trustworthiness (Nielsen 1999), and lower user frustration (Ceaparu et ... market research, surveys and trends

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Slashdot | Providers Ignoring DNS TTL?
"It seems that several large providers give their users DNS servers that simply ignore DNS time to live (TTL). Over the past decade I've seen this from time to time. Recently it seems to be a pandemic, affecting very large cable/broadband and dial up networks. Performing a few tests against our broadband cable provider has shown that only one of the three provided DNS servers picked up a change in seven days or less. After turning in a trouble ticket with that provider - two of the three provided DNS servers were responding correct - while the third was still providing bad information more than two weeks after that ...

Cloud Computing is an emerging model in which users gain access to their applications from anywhere through Internet-connected devices. A simplified user interface makes the infrastructure supporting the applications transparent to users. posted July 15, 2008 Keep your eye on video (no pun intended). It is the convergence of both sociological and technical trends. For 500 years text has been dominant. That is changing very quickly. The superiority of video as an information communications medium is already unspokenly apparent to most. But up a site with the same information in text and video and see which is more readily ...
