BANGOR - The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce became the latest business group in Maine to support a recent tax reform measure by endorsing a " no" vote on Question 1. The Chamber's board of directors voted Thursday on the endorsement with the belief that tax reform promotes growth and brings the state's tax system more in line with other states. The Chamber supported the bill last year when the measure made its way through the Legislature. "Little has changed since the Chamber last examined this issue," said Michael Ballesteros, chairman of the Chamber's board of directors. "Maine ...

Order given to design, price Bangor arena - Bangor Daily News
BANGOR, Maine — City councilors on Thursday sent their newly hired architect and construction manager off with the task of designing and pricing a 7,400-seat capacity arena to replace the half-century-old Bangor Auditorium. The Colorado-based architect firm Sink Combs and Dethlefs will work hand in hand with Cianbro Corp. of Pittsfield to formalize a plan similar to what was proposed out of last year’s market study. It will include a U-shaped arena adjacent to the existing auditorium as well as new conference space and pedestrian bridges over both Dutton Street and Main Street to Hollywood Slots. The schematic design is expected ... market research, surveys and trends
Strange happenings going on with the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. A couple of firings of key personnel in the last couple of weeks. The news coming out of that office, under the new direction of newly appointed President, is indeed disconcerting, to say the least. John Porter, a former editor of the Portland Press Herald, is now heading up Bangor’s Chamber of Commerce, as of early January. What seems odd is that other than a brief stint as a consultant on his own, he has no business background. He does, however, have a strong union background. He headed up Local #128 of the Communications Workers of America Union, at the ... market research, surveys and trends

Maine: Maine/Bar Harbor, bar harbor chamber of commerce, knick knack
Coming to Bar Harbor in July or Sept/can you tell me what would be good place to stay/3 adults/2 children under age 8. Reasonable rates/child friendly hotels?  Any Good Lobster Pounds to visit? Is the trip on the ferry to Canada a good thing to do? Any suggestions for this area or any area you think we should visit?   Answer Hi Rich,   Given a choice of July or September, I would choose September for two reasons.  One, the rates should be a little lower and two, it won't be nearly as crowded.  As I have explained to many others, I am not up on the numerous places to stay in Bar Harbor.  I ...
