Brian Wilson stated of EFCA, "[O]ne economist warned of what would happen if the bill passed and met its predicted goal of growing unions by 5 to 10 percent," and then aired a video clip of Anne Layne-Farrar testifying to Congress: "This would result in an increase in the unemployment rate of around 1 and a half to 3 percentage points." Fox's on-screen graphic identified Layne-Farrar only as "Economist." At no point did Wilson note that Layne-Farrar's testimony was based on the results of a study conducted by Layne-Farrar and funded by industry groups that oppose EFCA. 2 Comments

Business group fights union organizing bill - Friday, Jul. 9, 2010
A new alliance of business owners plans to exert pressure this election season against a federal bill that would make it easier for workers to unionize. The Alliance for New Hampshire Jobs said yesterday it will send candidates a questionnaire on the Employee Free Choice Act, and publish their answers before the Sept. 14 primary elections. Paul Young, state director of the new alliance, said the EFCA "is a job killer, plain and simple." He said workers will lose the right to free elections on whether to unionize, and businesses will be forced to accept contracts negotiated by arbitrators. That will hurt small businesses, he ... market research, surveys and trends

Why We Need EFCA | The American Prospect
Despite its paltry membership, the U.S. labor movement remains the nation's most potent force for progressive change and the most effective vehicle for electing Democrats. Three weeks before the November election, The New York Times Magazine ran a cover story that asked, "Will Gun-Toting, Churchgoing White Guys Pull the Lever for Obama?" When the polls closed, the question was answered: Nationwide, white men, white women, working-class whites, white gun owners, and white weekly churchgoers supported McCain by wide margins. But a significant number of whites in each category broke ranks and voted for Obama -- enough to help ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
