Sara Weinman first learned about Uganda not from a textbook or documentary, but from a young African burn victim named Susan who was receiving treatment in the United States. Now, the Bethlehem High School sophomore is organizing a fundraiser to do her own part. Mormons Become Victims in $50 Million Scam to Sell Gold Bullion ...
Jones, 55, a record producer in Marina del Rey, California, and his two partners had raised more than $50 million from 735 investors, which they said they were using to broker the sale to Arab buyers of 20,000 tons of gold owned by a group of Israelis. They promised to triple investors’ money -- if only Tri Energy could overcome some last-minute glitches. All the company needed to close the deal, Jones said on the Dec. 20, 2004, conference call, taped by one of the participants, was a “safe-passage letter” that would cost $450,000. A few days later, on another call, he said Tri Energy had to come up with $100,000 to open a ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

It will be a time for prayer and rejoicing as members of BPC, Boston Presbytery, and guests gather to celebrate Kevin’s ordination. It isn’t often in most congregations that a member is ordained to pastoral ministry. We have been privileged to be part of Kevin’s journey to this time, first during his year of student internship as a senior at B.U. School of Theology, and later as a member and elder in our congregation. Kevin has determinedly pursued his sense of God’s call through time and adversity, and this is a moment of great affirmation! Developing a Mission Statement for Your Church
I described a process for developing a Core Values Statement for a church. The next step in developing a long-range plan for a church is to develop a Mission Statement, so I will describe how to do that in this article. In the future, I will explain how to develop this into a more detailed Vision Statement. And then the next step in the process is to develop a Strategic Plan that will accomplish the vision and the mission. The Purpose of a Mission Statement A mission statement explains why your church exists. How does it contribute to God’s mission in the world? What is your church supposed to be doing? Why has God ...

Nonprofit Law: Church Mission Trip Fundraising, www irs gov ...
This summer a group of youth in our church are going on a mission trip to Peru. The cost is about $2000 apiece. We have done lots of fundraising. We have worked concession stands at our local University's football and basketball games, made and sold church cookbooks, had a pie sale, done childcare and have done other random jobs as a group. My question is... we want the money from each individual fundraiser to go towards helping the people  who participated in that individual fundraiser (towards their $2000 for the mission trip). So everyone who participated gets an equal share of the funds raised. Is this legal? ...
personal fundraising accounts
We are a family that falls below the federal poverty guidelines. As a result, our children are often unable to participate in certain activities that their peers can afford to be involved in. The activities I am referring to are church related such as camp and mission trips. My family and I recently raised $100 through fundraising, but were unable to come up with the remaining balance for camp, and therefore my daughter will not be attending camp next week with her friends. Although the church offered her a scholarship today, it is too late as 15 minutes prior I made arrangements for one of her friends (whose mother is on a ...
