Current law also allows an electric provider to create a credit based on the amount of electricity derived from renewable resources that the electric provider provides to its customers or members in a year and that exceeds the RPS for that year. Subject to certain restrictions, an electric provider ...
to signify Texas as an independent republic and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. Although Texas is popularly associated with the Southwestern deserts , less than 10% of the land area is desert . Most of the population centers are located in areas of former prairies , grasslands , forests , and the coastline . Traveling from east to west, one ...

Play ball, with one eye on storm clouds - Finance and Commerce
To borrow a phrase from noted baseball fan Robert Zimmerman, the Minnesota Twins don't need a weatherman to tell them which way the wind is blowing. The flags on top of their new outdoor stadium will do that. But, they do need to know if it's going to rain, when, and for how long. The man for the job is Craig Edwards, who joined the team in April as baseball's only on-site meteorologist. Edwards, 61, grew up a Cubs fan in the Chicago suburbs. After earning a meteorology degree at the University of Northern Illinois, he began working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Milwaukee in ... market research, surveys and trends

Tracking Tricks and Treats - By Bill Barol - Slate Magazine
The distinction between "candy" and "Halloween candy" can be summed up this way: The latter is exactly the same as the former, only there's more of it. According to the National Confectioners Association, whose Candy USA is almost everything you could ever want in a Web site devoted to the subject of candy in the U.S.A., Halloween is the busiest candy-buying season of the year. (Easter is a pale shadow in comparison, moving a mere $1,856,000,000 of sweets last year in comparison to Halloween's mighty $1,983,000,000.) Halloween also leads the way in mind share, according to an NCA press release: ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Fear and loathing over mobile phone "bill shock"
We're picking up quite a bit of static between the wireless industry and the Federal Communications Commission over the concept of mobile phone " bill shock ," and how many consumers have actually been jolted by an unexpectedly high wireless bill.  CTIA - the Wireless Association  calls the FCC's latest data on the question "Inflammatory" and "an orchestrated 'solution' in search of a problem." But the Commission isn't taking these charges lying down. "Denying Bill Shock by Distorting the Facts," the agency titled its response on the FCC's market trends, news research and surveys resources

Google Answers: Support and opposition to Federal legislation
We would like to determine, for each bill introduced in the U.S. Congress, the organizations and businesses that support and oppose that bill. Ideally we would like to determine *all* the organizations and industries that support and oppose each bill. If this information cannot be determined, we'd like to obtain as complete a list as possible. My question is, how can we obtain this information? It is available (or partially available) through any pay services (e.g. Lexis/Nexis or CQ or other legislative tracking service)? Is it available through any public-records sources, such as government source or public ...
