If you are working on GoodRelations-related software (e.g. import / export interfaces for CMS or Shop software) and want to promote your work on this page, just send an e-mail to mhepp AT computer DOT org and include a URI with more information. Goal: Search engines should crawl GoodRelations metadata and include it in their search index. Ideal would be support for both RDF and RDFa. Google : Ongoing discussions with Google on how GoodRelations data can be used to improve Google. Goal: Web Shop software should create GoodRelations data, both as individual RDFa embedded in the pages and a complete RDF/XML data dump. Also, they ...
Although the content of web pages is technically already capable of "automated processing", and has been since the inception of the web, such processing is difficult because the traditional markup tags used to display information on the web do not describe what the information means. 1 Microformats can bridge this gap by attaching semantics , and thereby obviate other, more complicated, methods of automated processing, such as natural language processing or screen scraping . The use, adoption and processing of microformats enables data items to be indexed, searched for, saved or cross-referenced, so that information ...

Facets of Web3.0
With more than 10 years’ work on the Semantic Web’s foundations and more than five years since the phrase became popular, it’s an opportune moment to look at the field’s current state and future opportunities. The Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Web Ontology Language (OWL)–the languages that power the Semantic Web–have become standards and new technologies are reaching maturity for embedding semantics in existing Web pages and querying RDF knowledge stores. Something exciting is clearly happening in this area. That is none other than web 3.0 • Web 3.0 is defined as the creation ... market research, surveys and trends

What is data science? - O'Reilly Radar
Tim O'Reilly said that "data is the next Intel Inside." But what does that statement mean? Why do we suddenly care about statistics and about data? In this post, I examine the many sides of data science -- the technologies, the companies and the unique skill sets. Sections: The web is full of "data-driven apps." Almost any e-commerce application is a data-driven application. There's a database behind a web front end, and middleware that talks to a number of other databases and data services (credit card processing companies, banks, and so on). But merely using data isn't really what we mean ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

ESWC2010 7th Extended Semantic Web Conference 2010 - Vocab_Wiki
The mission of the Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC2010) is to bring together researchers and practitioners dealing with different aspects of semantics on the Web. ESWC2010 builds on the success of the former European Semantic Web Conference series, but seeks to extend its focus by collaborating with other communities and research areas, in which web semantics play an important role -- within and outside ICT. At the same time, ESWC2010 is a truly international conference, not only "European". Microformats, RDFa, eRDF: Are they practical, sustainable ...
I'm researching some initiatives that could benefit from the use of something like these three things. I want to be able to markup information, and allow others to follow the same format so we can share the data easier (while maintaining human readability). I'm a little bit at a loss if any of these are practical or exactly how they would be implemented. I see how the code examples work, but do many people use these (besides the XFN and maybe the hCard microformats)? Do you have any thoughts about which is best, or know of places to get solid answers (that aren't technical papers)? posted November 8, 2008 in ...
Describe the importance of ontology for next generations of ...
The establishment of ontologies linking conceptual business terms to their ultimate implementation as business data elements is vital in order for that data to be used as a source of knowledge. Since across and even within companies multiple words and phrases can be used to indicate a single concept and since in some cases a single word can be used to refer to multiple concepts, simple hierarchies are not going to be sufficient to adequately map data elements and meanings within large dynamic organizations. A true relational model will be required which can support matrices of meanings. posted 9 months ago Ontologies enable the ...
