The budget information released so far does not provide for a specific destination for humans in space. So, while some see this new ...
How many miles up is space? - Yahoo! Answers
NASA says 62 miles (100 km) is where space starts. If you go that high, you're an astronaut. It's arbitrary. The atmosphere doesn't end. It just gets thinner and thinner. Some people talk about Earth's atmosphere at 700 or 800 miles. But the International Space Station, Hubble Space Telescope, etc., orbit much lower than that. And then, we live in the atmosphere of the Sun. Some say that goes out to Saturn. Others say that the Voyager space craft are just reaching the edge of the Solar atmosphere.
