Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco on Nov. 4 announced that five North Carolina communities will receive $1.23 million in Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Tax Credit Housing Development funds to provide housing and related needs for low- and moderate-income residents. The CDBG grant awards will assist in constructing 245 affordable housing units and supporting infrastructure for the projects, including safe water and sewer lines, road improvements and sidewalks. Governor Bev Perdue today announced that AMARK Corp., an industrial contractor, will expand with a new fabrication facility in Pasquotank County. Google Inc. has opted not to take a $4.7 million state grant to build a data center in the town of Lenoir, N.C. � a sign the company may be slowing down its expansion in the state. Online retailer Amazon.com has filed a lawsuit in a federal court to block the North Carolina state government's demand it disclose all transaction details, including names and addresses, involving state residents, court documents show. In the complaint, Amazon said that North Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR) is demanding that the retailer turn over the name and address of virtually every North Carolina resident who has purchased anything from Amazon since 2003.
