Before it was possible to begin truly moving the City forward, these challenges had to be met and overcome. This is a brief update on what was accomplished in 2008, which has set the stage for real progress in 2009. • ...

Washington's lead economist says state is poised to recover faster ...
Washington’s chief economist Arun Raha said last week that the economy is recovering and that we’re better positioned than most states at the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce meeting at McCormick Woods Golf Course. He said Washington is in a position to recover more quickly than most because of its high volume of exports. Raha said some of that is tied to aerospace, which is thriving. Boeing also has the Air Force’s tanker contract, which would create or save an estimate 11,000 jobs in the state. “Because of exports, we will outperform the nation,” said Raha, adding that exports were up 28 percent in the fourth quarter. Williams critical of spending in Washington state government ...
But Bob Williams, president of the Evergreen Freedom Foundation, told the audience at last week’s Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce meeting that selecting candidates for the bad list was much easier. Despite that, he said, Washington still made the cut for the worst along with states such as California and Michigan. Williams, who created the EFF, an Olympia-based libertarian think tank, said the state’s problems begin with Gov. Christine Gregoire and the Legislature. “They did not learn Econ 101 in school,” he said. “We have less than 30 percent of state legislatures who have signed the front of the paycheck.” Williams said state ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Tacoma Narrows Bridge users, committee reject recommendation for ...
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee was not swayed by State Treasurer James McIntire’s recommendation for higher tolls Tuesday night, despite him appearing in person to present it, and voted 6-1 to only increase the cash price to $5. “I am still not convinced we need a larger reserve than we already have,” said committee member Jim Pasin, describing McIntire’s recommendation for maintaining 110 percent coverage of the bridge debt and a $10 million reserve by collecting $3.75 from those with transponders and $5 from everyone else as coming “out-of-the-blue. “I find it disturbing that in 2009, you wrote a letter ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Any VESPA Motor scooter clubs in the Seattle, Kitsap peninsula ...
Actually, yes Richard! I used to live up there before I moved to Phoenix. I was in Tacoma, Bremerton, Port Orchard, and Everett for a litttle while. Try googling T.W.A.T (Two wheels around Tacoma). Its a vespa club that has get togethers, like show and shines, and rides every so often. Very active in the summertime. They used to meet at The Poodle Dog resteraunt in Fife, and take their scooters on runs from there a while back. I'm sure they are still active!
