Sony Bravia XBR-46HX909 HDTV Review | Reviewboard Magazine Product ...
The last Sony TV we reviewed with superb picture quality was the ultra-expensive KDL-55XBR8 from 2008, which also and not coincidentally featured the company’s last example of a full-array local dimming LED backlight. That TV’s spiritual successor, equipped with a similar backlight, is the ultra-expensive XBR-HX909 series, but all told, its picture quality fares less favorably against the competition. It does deliver deliciously deep black levels but they come with too many compromises, including issues with blooming and color accuracy, for a TV at this price level. If you extend your investment to include a pair or ... market research, surveys and trends

The Glamazon Diaries: April 2008
I am moving in a month and just can't bear to think of all the clothes in my closet. Over the years, I have accumulated so many unique pieces that I can't seem to part with. A friend of mine recently commented that she has never seen me wear anything twice. That got me thinking; am do I really have that many clothes? Yes I do. I am a dress whore and have the closet to prove it. I have about 120 dresses and counting. I am a girly girl and girly girls wear dresses so I have to stock up. When I go shopping with friends, it's always, " Uhmm put that dress down, you have something similar." I know what works ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

problem is driving Len Bertoni crazy. Bertoni is a 51-year-old “semiretired” computer scientist who lives an hour outside Pittsburgh. In the spring of 2007, his sister-in-law e-mailed him an intriguing bit of news: Netflix , the Web-based DVD-rental company, was holding a contest to try to improve Cinematch, its “recommendation engine.” The prize: $1 million. MobileBeat: Samsung offers glimpse of superphone future with Galaxy S
The Korean electronics giant has thus had a lot of time to consider what a superphone is: a cross between a computer and a phone. Omar Khan, chief strategy officer at Samsung Telecommunications America, said that users essentially want their phones to be full-fledged computers or netbooks, without the same size display. “Consumers want the same user experience in an uncompromised fashion,” said Khan, speaking at the afternoon keynote at MobileBeat 2010 in San Francisco today. “It’s the power of a netbook in the palm of your hands.” Users are driving the push for better hardware. They want to be able ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Rent the Runway: Netflix for Designer Dresses
Jenna Wortham from the The New York Times got an early look Rent The Runway, a new service that rents designer dresses using the Netflix business model. The mail-order service, which finishes the testing phase on Monday, allows women to rent dresses from notable fashion designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Hervé Léger and Proenza Schoule for roughly one-tenth of what they would cost to buy in a retail store. The rentals run $50 to $200 for a four-night loan and are shipped directly to the customer’s doorstep. After wearing the dress, she puts it into a prepaid envelope and drops it in the mail. Dry cleaning is included in the ...
Google Answers: Anatomy of Netflix
I've always been curious about this - How exactly does Netflix make money? They have no late fees, and don't charge on a per movie basis, yet, they are still very profitable. Don't they have to pay a portion of the profits to Hollywood powerhouses, and then tack on the shipping and handling that they don't even charge us for.. So how in the world does Netflix make a profit from their services?? Greetings brodeur! Netflix makes a profit by charging a monthly fee that is higher than the costs of sending out five or so DVDs to a subscriber each month. Their business plan seems to assume that ...
