Export sales by Wisconsin firms grew by 7.73 percent in 2003 and totaled $11.5 billion. Wisconsin's exports outpaced those of the nation as a whole, which grew by 4.4 percent. Wisconsin ranks 19th among the 50 states in export volume. Of Wisconsin's top 25 export destinations, 19 bought more from Wisconsin in 2003 than in 2002. Kohl's, Bon-Ton sales for June rise less than expected
Warm weather and the Memorial Day holiday helped to boost June sales for retailers, but the monthly totals were a bit short of expectations. Kohl's Corp. and Bon-Ton Stores Inc. were among the retailers that reported same-store sales below analysts' forecasts. Kohl's reported a gain of 5.9% and Bon-Ton an increase of 1.4% at stores open at least a year, compared to June 2009. Analysts reporting to Retail Metrics in Massachusetts had predicted a 6.4% same-store sales gain for Kohl's and 2.5% for Bon-Ton. Dee Power and Brian Hill, authors of "Inside Secrets To Venture Capital" survey venture capitalists regularly to better help entrepreneurs. In their latest study, 28% of venture capitalists said the most frequent business plan mistake was a "Lack of Marketing Strategy. Entrepreneurs failed to specify who their customers would be and how they would communicate with them.
