Absolute Gadget | Review: Samsung R580 HD Notebook
Jack of all trades, master of none - that's how the saying goes. But Samsung seems to have created a machine that defies that phrase. Packed into its R580 HD notebook is a Core i3-330M (2.13GHz) Intel processor, 4GB memory, 320GB hard drive and a DVDRW drive, for the (not insubstantial) cost of around £592 online . Samsung has also squeezed in an Nvidia GeForce 310M graphics system to make sure that video and gaming are trades that it also masters. Naturally, that hardware makes it a seriously quick machine. So while cheaper models might look like they offer a similar spec, it might be worth investing a little more to get ... market research, surveys and trends

Excel: blank cells and zero's, randall chapman, column locks
Kind of a new problem. I'm using grouping in this chart to hide data that is totaled in the column before the grouping. I have about 4 of these because I would end up with 40 columns or so. It's easier to display only the major catagory. If I use protect sheet and column locks to save formulas from prying fingers, I can't ungroup or group those sub columns without removing the sheet protection. I want to protect the formulas, but be able to group and ungroup sub-data cells for data entry and analysis. Can this be done. Hey, your doing great. Thanks for the help so far. Randall Chapman ...
Should I convert to Linux? (Comments)
I think Ubuntu would have a hard time in 384MB of ram. It would still work but it would not be as nimble. I would first try SAM Linux. It's a derivative of PCLinuxOS. I would download the Live CD and give it a whirl. It has most of the multimedia codecs and plugins baked in or at least readily available with the package manager. The next step down in hardware requirements is Puppy Linux and after that DSL (Damn Small Linux).
