world derivatives market has been estimated at about $791 trillion face or nominal value, 11 times the size of the entire world economy. The value of the derivatives market, because it is stated in terms of notional values , cannot be directly compared to a stock or a fixed income security, which traditionally refers to an actual value . Moreover, the vast majority of derivatives 'cancel' each other out (i.e., a derivative 'bet' on an event occurring is offset by a comparable derivative 'bet' on the event not occurring). Many such relatively illiquid securities are valued as marked to model , rather ...
Day trading expectations? | Day Trading Swing Trading
I am going to start trading this summer. Is it too unrealistic to ask for a 1-2 % profit ratio a day? I am with an online brokerage account and the comission fees are a dollar minimum per trade with a penny per share. Transaction costs are basically zero and i wont be using options or trading with margin(unless shorting) so the interest rates wont account for fees either. Are my expectations too high? Mind you im not expecting to profit 2 percent every single day but at least profit more than lose on a 3 times a week basis. However, for several reasons, there was no definitive answer to the question. An initial problem was defining the term "day trader" and determining exactly how many day traders there were and still are. Additionally most day traders do not publicly disclose their results. to open an account with a discount broker last year, he thought he’d be getting a good deal. After all, the firm was advertising commissions of just $2.50 a trade. But it wasn’t until Northrop started poking around that the 56-year-old discovered other charges he could have easily incurred—like $3 for every paper-based trade confirmation, $5 for a monthly statement in the mail and a $50 fee to transfer his account to his wife in the event of his death. In the end, Northrop was able to dodge these fees by changing his account’s settings, though he first had to contact customer service in order to know ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Now the central bank is clearly more worried, and economists say there's not much more it can do to help. The Fed said Tuesday that it would spend a relatively small amount of money — about $10 billion a month, economists estimate — buying government debt. The move is designed to drive interest rates on mortgages and corporate borrowing at least a little lower and help the economy grow faster. ___ Stocks cut losses on Fed's economic stimulus plans NEW YORK (AP) — The stock ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
