Devil always lies in the details. Recently, the IPO of BaWang International (Group) Holding Limited (1338) becomes very "hot" in the stock market. When you look through the propectus of this company, you will find that this company is carefully packaged to give a good image to the public which is common for new IPOs. In the past, we have discussed how to read through the propectus in evaluating IPO. Bawang now gives us one typical example why we say "Devil lies in the details". When we turn to page 7 of the propectus of Bawang, we have the "Consolidated Balance Sheet" with : Cash and cash ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Paul Abrams: An Entrepreneur Speaks: No Impact of Tax Rate Increases on New ...
For nearly two decades I have been an entrepreneur, founding, running and also investing my own money in new technology start-up businesses. Tax rates have never played a role, positively or negatively, in the ability to raise capital or decisions to invest it. Other general economic factors surely have, but not tax rates. As shall be explained below, there are a few tweaks to tax policy that might make a difference, but keeping these tax rates where they are, or letting them rise, is not one of them. Never ones to miss an opportunity to lie about taxes, however, Republican chicken-littles are using the slow-growth in job ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Puny returns on savings beat losses in riskier investments
Easier said than done, and even the legendary Buffett took a pounding during the 2007-'09 bear market, during which the average stock plummeted 57%. Some of Buffett's losses were inevitable due to the size of his Berkshire Hathaway equity portfolio, which is too big to liquidate even if he sees a financial storm on the horizon and wants to take evasive action. But most investors can seek shelter, given the manageable size of their holdings and the cut-rate commissions available online. Since it takes a 100% gain just to break even after a 50% loss, getting out of harm's way justifies the effort and minimal expense. market trends, news research and surveys resources

Just as a CPR class teaches you how to perform the basics of cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, this brochure will explain how to read the basic parts of a financial statement. I don't care who is running this thing. Anyone who guarantees results ? or anyone who even suggests you can make 3,700% profit on a regular basis ? is a scam artist. These guys may be legitimate investment pros. They may have a good system. But never -- and I emphasize never -- follow the advice of advisers or use a system unless those advisers or that system have a proven track record. If they won't show you the historical record ? one that reflect both the successful and unsuccessful trades over a period of time ? then find something else. It's easy to make money in the stock market over time. The ...

What are some decent quality forums, blogs for old fashioned, small time value investors? A lot of good content seems to be behind pay walls, and freely accessible forums are often high on noise and low on signal. If you have any good resources for stock screeners (I know about Google, Yahoo etc, but they mostly don't have Euronext stocks), I would appreciate those too. Any other tips to improve in valuating stocks, companies and financial instruments are much appreciated. I bought books like "Security Analysis" and "The Intelligent Investor". Decent modern books would be appreciated too. - For the vast majority of people, ...
