Over the first part of this decade, Florida, and certainly Gulf Coast counties, got too expensive for too many people, especially non-homesteaded property owners. Emblematic was the growth in local government tax revenues of which property taxes are the largest single source. From ...

Florida Nix TV, Films With Mature Content - DailyFinance
A "family-friendly" bill is set to pass in Florida that would deny tax credits to movie and TV productions that feature gay characters, the Palm Beach Post reported this week. State tax laws already offer a 2% tax credit on production costs of "family-friendly" productions; the bill would raise that credit to 5% and ban productions promoting "nontraditional family values." Florida regulations regard "family-friendly" as material suitable for five-year-old viewers. Among films recently shot in Florida, Baitshop featured too much alcohol, and Confessions of a Shopaholic too much violence, to market research, surveys and trends

Florida lawmakers seek tax breaks and fee cuts despite a budget ...
TALLAHASSEE — After raising $2.2 billion in new taxes and fees last year, Florida legislators want to erase that memory this election year with proposals to roll back auto registration fees and steer up to $100 million to businesses in tax incentives. The problem: how to pay for it. The House plans to budget about $88 million in tax incentives, the Senate plan includes $135 million in tax cuts, and both chambers plan to push a $44 million sales tax holiday for back-to-school supplies. All of it must come out of a budget that already has a shortfall of $3.2 billion. Critics of the tax and fee cuts say competition already is ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Lincoln to vote on utility tax to finance police
The city of Lincoln in the Republican hotbed of Placer County is asking voters to approve a 3.75 percent utility user tax to stave off more layoffs at the Police Department. Elected leaders agree it runs counter to general conservative philosophy, but say if voters want the level of service they currently offer, there are no other choices. Four of the five council members are registered Republicans. The utility user tax would apply to cable, telephone, electricity, gas, water, sewer, refuse hauling and other utility services. If voters approve the Nov. 2 ballot measure, a household with utility bills totaling $500 would pay ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Oakland scrambles to avoid police layoffs
Oakland police Officers Huy Nguyen (left) and Anthony Banks Jr. take a moment to talk with 2-year-old Toby Fung, his brother David, 7, and their mother, Serena, while on their walking patrol in Jack London Square. Oakland officials will meet with police union leaders this morning in a final attempt to iron out pension concessions that would avoid the layoffs of 80 of the city's 776 police officers by day's end. Many of the officers whose layoffs are scheduled to become effective tonight stood only days ago on the front lines of the riot in Oakland that followed the Johannes Mehserle verdict - pelted by rocks and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

have to pay a crippling £115 every month this year up to April 2010 when rate is certain to go up a lot. I understand if my flat gets moved into B and C, which would be assessed if it is valued as having had a market value of above £68,000, my Council Tax would go up another 8.75% which would make it £122 per month = 1,464 per year .
