General Debate 24 July 2010 | Kiwiblog
Hurrah! Our useless Coalition government has finally done something useful by axing one of its more pointless and hateful quangos, the Sustainable Development Commission. :: “Sustainability” is not nearly as politically neutral as its cuddly, warm name sounds. A bit like “multiculturalism” or “diversity”, “sustainability” is one of those weasel concepts which has been foisted on our language and culture by the hard left, linguistically masquerading as something unimpeachably caring and reasonable while in fact advancing a policy agenda designed to increase state control, remove property rights and liberty, and brainwash the ... market research, surveys and trends
Cringe-worthy economic journalism: SMH style at Catallaxy Files
However, I was looking for a quote from Peter Hartcher about Joolia’s ‘population policy’, which of  course has nothing to do with immigration policy, according to the government, at least some parts of the government.  (Note to Gillard: here are the four boxes to consider in terms of the determinants of the rate of population growth: the birth rate; the death rate; the immigration rate; and the emigration rate.) When this article caught my eye. Gosh, the certainty of youth – and the condescension to boot.  I particularly love her explanation of the (misnamed) automatic stabilisers. I am wondering whether ... market research, surveys and trends

Survey: Top Cities and Industries for Jobs | Employment Spot
Following trends in hiring in the last six months, U.S. employers anticipate they will be recruiting at a moderated, yet stable, pace through the remainder of the year. The latest GDP report from the U.S. Commerce Department shows subdued economic growth in the second quarter, which clocked in at an annual rate of 2.6 percent compared to a brisk clip of 5.6 percent in the first quarter. The National Association for Business Economics is forecasting that the GDP will hold steady at 2.6 percent through the end of the year, warding off some speculation that a slowing in the economy will lead to a recession near-term. 'I feel like I'm at home again'
In the 100 years since their first reunion, the Stephenson-Maynard family has scattered to all corners of the country. But they always come home. Still heeding the call of Isadora Stephenson, who in 1910 drew the family in from the tobacco fields for a home-cooked meal and an afternoon of fellowship, more than 250 kin, on the Fourth of July, converged on the Stephenson Homeplace near Fuquay-Varina for their 100th-straight family reunion. It took more than a dinner bell to get them all here this time: Two years of planning, several committee meetings, conference calls, a Facebook page and an E-vite. "We just love each ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

The demographics of today's changing teaching force are stunning: one-third of today's teachers have more than 20 years of experience; and two-thirds are at least at mid-career. At the same time, K-12 enrollment is the highest it has ever been in the United States, surpassing the explosive enrollment of the baby-boom years. (7) The 52 million students expected by 1998 will stretch the capacity of the nation's schools for many years to come. Schools already unable to recruit enough talented teachers, particularly in fields such as math and science, shudder to contemplate how they will deal with that burden. How do you implement a performance measurement and tracking system ...
I think the first step is to determine what you want to measure and track. I then think you need to look at how you are going to do the recruiting. If you are going to be sending emails for example you will be tracking the emails sent and the replies you get back. If you will be calling people then you can use other ways to track and measure the system. Within the social media arena you can look at which sites you are on and using. You could track by site, x number from linked in and the like. I am not exactly sure from your question what your goal is. If I were designing the system I would look at the above mentioned concepts ...
When to apply for a job? | Ask MetaFilter
I'm graduating from college in May and will be entering the real world. I need a job, but how early should I start applying? Help! I'm all set to graduate this coming May. I need a job once I graduate, and I've begun looking on, in my local newspaper, Craigslist, and through my school. I've found a couple of jobs I'm interested in, but they seem to be looking for applicants who can start within the next month or so - this is not me. My question to the hive mind is this: when should I start sending my resumes out? Is it too soon to start applying? (And, if I do send out my resume, should I ...
