Google Finance Has a New Look: Will Yahoo Lose Out? -- Seeking Alpha
overcomes the primary limitation of the old Google Finance and continues to capitalize on its primary benefit. We should expect the defection of Yahoo! ( YHOO ) Finance users to accelerate after this latest redesign. As finance ad spend flows online this will be a core battleground for both portals. At the Google Finance launch in March this year Yahoo! looked likely to maintain its ascendancy, as the switching costs of transferring a portfolio were sufficiently considerable to dissuade many users. Forrester's Charlene Li commented at the time : "Most mainstream financial site users will stick with their current ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

iPhone Coming to Verizon in January 2011: Why It Matters
today reported that the iPhone will be available on Verizon Wireless beginning in January. Coming from anonymous sources close to Verizon and Apple, the rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as Engadget points out, seeing as similar claims have arisen in the past and yet no Verizon iPhone plan has materialized. However, if authentic, the news represents a tectonic shift in the mobile communications market for several reasons, and not all of them are good for Apple or Verizon. Take a gander: 1. The End of Exclusivity. Since the first iPhone dropped into stores in the summer of 2006, AT&T has been its exclusive carrier. ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

FTC Member Rips Into Google's Privacy Efforts
Commissioner Pamela Jones Harbour, who is leaving the FTC next month, ripped into Google for the launch of its Buzz social-networking tool in February, and she complained that many other Internet firms, including Facebook and Microsoft, aren't encrypting the consumer data that lives in their clouds. "I am especially concerned that technology companies are learning harmful lessons from each other's attempts to push the privacy envelop," she said during an FTC privacy workshop. "Even the most respected and popular online companies, the ones who claim to respect privacy, continue to launch products where the guiding ...
Google seeks IPO launch this month
Google, the most widely used internet search engine, is aiming to complete its long-awaited initial public offering as soon as this month. The sale rests on tests of the computer auction system as well as approval from the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Google and its bankers, a team of 30 led by Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston, have been testing the system they will use to run the auction - the process Google has chosen to distribute shares to investors. I don't know much about the stock market. On an IPO what price do the stocks start at per share? Normally investment bankers set this price. For ...
