Bank of America Earns $3.1 Billion in Second Quarter
Bank of America Corporation today reported second-quarter 2010 net income of $3.1 billion, compared to net income of $3.2 billion a year ago. I was at the Iowa Treasurer's Department the other day getting an Iowa Driver's license and I noticed that in order to use a credit card (Visa, MC, or Discover) instead of cash or writing a check, there was a fee usually in the range of 2-3% of the total transaction. Even though Iowa doesn't have a state law outlawing CC surcharges (like states do), I thought that in order to be a Visa/MC merchant, you had to agree to NOT charge fees in exactly that manner (in lieu of another form of payment).
