1. A common misconception is that open interest is the same thing as volume of options and futures trades. This is not correct as demonstrated in the following example: On Jan 1, A buys an option, which leaves an open interest and also creates trading volume of 1. On Jan 2, C and D create trading volume of 5 and there are also 5 more options left open. On Jan 3, A takes an offsetting position and therefore open interest is reduced by 1, and trading volume is 1. is a property interest created by agreement or by operation of law over assets to secure the performance of an obligation, usually the payment of a debt. It gives the beneficiary of the security interest certain preferential rights in the disposition of secured assets. federal judge Joseph L. Tauro held unconstitutional section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). In reaching this result, Judge Tauro, who was appointed by Richard Nixon, addressed a subtle but important issue of constitutional law. The federal government provides many benefits to married couples. For example, the spouse of a federal employee is entitled to medical coverage, the spouse of an individual covered by Social Security is eligible for retirement and survivor benefits, and married couples who file joint tax returns usually pay considerably lower federal income taxes than individuals who file separately. Stark II Phase III
The long-awaited third and final phase of the rulemaking that amends the Stark regulations (Stark) was released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on August 27, 2007. The phase III final rule (Phase III) will be effective December 4, 2007. Although CMS states that Phase III is flexible and favorable to the health care industry, Phase III is not the last piece of the puzzle addressing changes to Stark. That is, recently there have been significant proposals, pending legislation, and a CMS mandate regarding disclosures of hospital-physician financial relationships, all of which may lead to more changes to ... market research, surveys and trends

Who is poor?
National poverty data are calculated using the official Census definition of poverty, which has remained fairly standard since it was introduced in the 1960s and is useful for measuring progress against poverty. Under this definition, poverty is determined by comparing pretax cash income with the poverty threshold , which adjusts for family size and composition. 1   In 2008, according to the official measure, 39.8 million people, 13.2 percent of the total U.S. population, lived in poverty ( Table 1 ).
