Corporate finance research suggests that firms approach risk in two different ways: risk management or risk shifting. According to the risk-management theory, firms minimize cash flow risks to ensure they have sufficient funds to pursue profitable projects. In contrast, the risk-shifting theory suggests firms invest in riskier assets to increase the value of shareholders’ equity when the firm faces potential bankruptcy. Even though the risk-shifting theory is widely taught in finance courses, there are few real-world examples. In the recent study “Risk Shifting versus Risk ...

Private credit agreements represent an ideal—and largely overlooked—setting for examining the influence of finance on investment. A private credit agreement specifies the amount, interest rate, and other terms of a loan provided by a syndicate of banks to a firm. Roughly 80 percent of all public firms maintain private credit agreements. Compared with public bonds, private credit agreements contain covenants that are more detailed, comprehensive, and tightly set, making an analysis of private contracts essential to understanding the impact of external finance on firm behavior. Selected Papers in School Finance 1995 (NCES 97-536)
There is no strong or systematic relationship between school expenditures and student performance. (Hanushek 1989, 47) Relying on the data most often used to deny that resources are related to achievement, we find that money does matter after all. (Hedges, Laine, & Greenwald 1994, 13) On the surface, it would seem that the expenditure of more money for education would lead to improved student outcomes. Certainly if one were to ask a school teacher or school administrator, they would say that more money would help them provide a higher quality education, which in turn would lead to greater student achievement. Few ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Extended Stay, Neenah Foundry, Medical Staffing, Cedarlake: Bankruptcy
reorganization plan fails for two related reasons, according to papers filed by the U.S. Trustee yesterday in the New York bankruptcy court. The plan improperly grants releases and protection from suits to non-bankrupt officers, affiliates and third parties, the Justice Department’s bankruptcy watchdog said in a filing opposing confirmation of the Chapter 11 plan. In addition to letting third parties off the hook from suits creditors otherwise would have the right to bring directly, the U.S. Trustee contends that the releases cause the plan to fail what’s known as the best interest test. The plan, as described by the U.S. ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

I do not wish to justify the gas price increase. I just want to point out that the price of commodites, be it gas or anything else in a free market economy, does not depend upon the wages earned, the taxes paid, the GDP etc. etc. When you go to a supplier to buy a commodity you cannot ask him to reduce the price because you are a " poor" country. You can perhaps negotiate the price if you buy in large quantities. Similarly when I go shopping, I don't tell the shopkeeper to reduce the price because my income is low. The prices of the products I buy are the same, whether they are purchased by a millionaire or by a ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

How to fill color on photoshop without it going on the background ...
Every time I'm trying to fill the heart with color, the whole page is filled with color. I'm new to photoshop so it's frustrating me that I can't even do a simple thing like this. I only want the heart that I have on the page to be filled with color, not the background. There is a fill option for the shape tool at the top of the canvas in the Options Bar. With the shape tool active, select the icon that looks like a square (next to the one with the pen nib). This will cause the shape to be filled with the foreground color as soon as it's created. You can also select an unfilled ...
