Professional Certification | Geoff Ramey's Canadian HR Blog
Back again… However, it is interesting that I have probably had more people start to follow my blog in my absence that I think I had sign up while I was actively posting. Or, maybe I’ve just been watching it more. In any case, now that I have started at my new company and am “back in the game” again, I am hoping to get back on top of current issues and keep the posts coming. Top of mind for me right now is the flip flop that that HRPA is doing regarding practical qualifications for the CHRP designation. NAHRMA Report to WFPMA - May 2006
The Canadian economy maintained its robust growth in 2005. Similarly to 2004, the real GDP rose by 2.9%. All signs indicate that, in general, the economy is adjusting well to the challenges raised by the appreciation of the Canadian dollar. This strength was supported by steady increases in domestic demand. The outlook for 2006 appears to be just as promising. Private-sector forecasters estimate an increase of 3.0% in the real GDP in 2006, placing Canada in an enviable position in relation to the rest of the world. HR matters Don't treat human resources as DIY
While do-it-yourselfers are reportedly shaking up the real estate industry by jumping into the market to sell their own homes, a do-it-yourself human resource strategy is rarely as successful. That's because human resource management doesn't just represent one aspect of managing people; it is a broad and complicated function. It typically includes eight functional areas including recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, performance management, training and development, career management and succession planning, organizational development, compensation and benefits, and administration and records ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Human Resources: Introduce HR Department, balanced perspective, hr ...
I can answer questions related to employment, leadership development and Human Resources Management in private-sector organizations in BC or in Canada. I can provide general advice to either employers or employees, but cannot provide advice meant to replace the counsel of an employment lawyer, immigration lawyer or immigration consultant. I am happy to answer questions that are related to human resources but I would prefer not to answer questions about HR degrees or programs of study as this can be done ...
