Ageing in humans refers to a multidimensional process of physical, psychological, and social change. Some dimensions of ageing grow and expand over time, while others decline. Reaction time, for example, may slow with age, while knowledge of world events and wisdom may expand. Research shows that even late in life potential exists for physical, mental, and social growth and development. Ageing is an important part of all human societies reflecting the biological changes that occur, but also reflecting cultural and societal conventions. Age is usually measured in full years — and months for young children. A person's ...

Can you turn back your body clock? - Dear Miriam -
Scientists claim they're close to developing a magic pill that allows people to live beyond 100 - and stay fit and healthy. They are working on a drug which mimics the effects of three genes that prevent key diseases linked with old age. Two of the genes increase production of good cholesterol in the body, reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and Alzheimer's, and a third helps prevent diabetes. The pill, which is still some way off, would be taken in your 40s. When I researched my book on defying ageing I was amazed to discover we don't have any genes for death. Our genes don't have any preset expiry ... market research, surveys and trends

From their nondescript offices in the Texas border town of El Paso, the US special agents carefully put together the "sting" operation designed to catch international arms smugglers. The investigators from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) established a front company that purported to deal in military and industrial aviation and technology products. Federal prosecutors say the mission hit "pay-dirt" when undercover agents were contacted by British entrepreneurs intent on exporting batteries to power surface-to-air missiles to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Made in Kabul - shot up in Glasgow
Last week David Pratt followed heroin’s journey from the poppy fields of Afghanistan to the shooting galleries of the country’s capital. This week he traces its route to the addicts in Scotland. Jawad was left for dead in a ditch. Stephen was found overdosed in a doorway. Though more than 3000 miles separate Kabul’s Karte Seh district and Glasgow’s Gorbals, the lives of these two men are inextricably linked by one thing: heroin. In the space of little over a month on opposite sides of the world, I listened to both tell of a hellish journey each had taken while trapped in the grip of a powerful and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Workers 50 or older, are significantly more likely than younger workers to be independent self-employed workers (17% of older workers vs. 12% of younger workers) or small business owners (9% of older workers vs. 5% of younger workers). In every year from 1996-2007, Americans aged 55—64 had “a higher rate of entrepreneurial activity than those aged 20—24. Only 11% of small-business owners in 2008 said they planned to retire and stop working in their businesses in the long run: 40% "will continue to work as long as their health allows," while 47% will "eventually plan to cut back on the work they do, but maintain ...

And no, I am not an American. I'm a Canuck. But since we have no navy, I follow our allies navys and consider the US Navy as Canadas Navy since we share defence. The Brit Navy is nothing special anymore and neither is their airforce. I also find it funny how some British try and compare their navy/airforce to the US navy/airforce. The US has 11 aircraft carriers and over a 1000 naval vessels compared to Britains puny navy which is less advanced technologically as well. The F-22 also easily destroys anything Britain has No airforce or navy stands a chance against the US airforce or Navy. Sorry Brits but you are totally ...
