canceled a complete season because of a labor dispute. The lockout lasted 310 days starting September 16, 2004, the day after the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the NHL and the NHL Players Association (NHLPA) that resolved the 1994–95 lockout expired. The negotiating teams reached an agreement on July 13, 2005, and the lockout officially ended nine days later on July 22, after both the NHL owners and players ratified the CBA.

Note: For a while, I’m going to be illustrating the “On the Agenda” posts with various graphs documenting achievement gaps in MMSD as revealed by the admittedly flawed and limited WSAS/WKCE results. Two thirds of the teaching staff at Chicago Math and Science Academy have signed union authorization cards and filed for recognition with the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board, a press release by the American Federation of Teachers says. Once the Board certifies the union, the Chicago Alliance of Charter Teachers and Staff, an affiliate of the AFT and the Illinois Federation of Teachers, can begin collective bargaining negotiations with school officials. Double-dip recesssion ruled out for Spain
Spain's economic recovery will be hampered by spending cuts aimed at reducing its massive deficit, but the country will not sink back into recession, the labour minister told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday. "If you cut salaries and withdraw public investment evidently that's going to affect the economy. But, in the case of Spain, we won't reach a recession," Celestino Corbacho said. With Europe shifting focus to cutting deficits from stimulating growth, Spain will be part of a generalised weaker recovery in the region, Corbacho said. For example, he noted, Spain will be affected if German demand for ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
