The Employee Free Choice Act has lost some necessary supporters in recent weeks, and it remains unclear if an overhaul of the legislation would help it achieve passage in the future. But HR and business organizations aren't declaring victory just yet. Wachovia, Fifth Third Face Losses Tied to Hedge Funds (Update2 ...
U.S. banks that tried to profit by taking out life insurance on their employees, now face losses because the policies held the same types of investments that led to the global credit crunch. Wachovia reported a $315 million first-quarter loss in its bank-owned life insurance program, known as BOLI, because of investments in hedge funds managed by Citigroup Inc. A look at the proxy statements of 22 publicly-traded companies based in Jacksonville shows that chief executive officers' pay packages dropped last year because the companies' performance dropped, resulting in fewer ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

At one point, eight of 10 workers were disengaged—that is, either uncommitted or actively looking for work elsewhere. Then came the Great Recession, and talk of employee dissatisfaction abated. But it never went away. New studies by the Hay Group and the Corporate Leadership Council, which were cited in the Economist , note that employees are getting fed up. Factors include overwork, underpayment, and underappreciation. As a result, as many as six in 10 are looking to exit, according to the ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
