out yesterday in the Diamondback about how development of clean energy should take precedence over conservationist and NIMBY concerns, and legislation should clear a path for this clean energy development.  Enjoy! By Matt Dernoga For environmental advocates such as myself, it’s going to be a tough legislative session to watch with Annapolis facing $2 billion worth of budget cuts. Here’s to hoping legislators resist the urge to drain the Chesapeake Bay in order to stop spending money to save it. Despite the glass being half empty with pennies, I was pleased to see Gov. Martin O’Malley announce plans to accelerate the development ...
KI Media: Cambodia govt, unions agree to 9% rise in garment wages
- Cambodia's government and several unions agreed on Thursday to a 9-percent minimum wage rise for garment workers but the industry's biggest unions said their demands were not met and a strike was still possible. Garment workers have threatened a nationwide strike in Cambodia, where minimum wages are among the world's lowest, if pay levels fail to rise sharply in an industry vital to the impoverished country's nascent economic recovery. Labor Minister Vong Sauth said wages would rise from $56 a month to $61 from Oct. 1 under a new four-year agreement that would be strictly enforced. Since first running for office, I have followed a consistent style of leadership – I outline a series of promised goals, and after being elected, I deliver on those promises. It’s a simple path of leadership that is not always easy, but it is the right thing to do.   In 2002, I challenged a radical liberal State Senator in Athens in a race few thought could be won, because Roy Barnes and his grossly partisan redistricting had to be stopped. The voters trusted me with their vote, and I became part of the new Republican majority in the Senate.  I immediately got to work and in my first term passed more legislation than any other ... market research, surveys and trends

Obama and DOE Slash Hydrogen Car Budget by 60-percent | Hydrogen ...
things have indeed gotten worse. On April 27, I talked about how the Department of Energy’s published budget in 2009, went down to $177.7 million from $211.9 million in 2008. But, now in the past week, those numbers have changed on the DOE website. According to the current DOE site the numbers for 2009 are now up to $200,600 million for 2009. Now, the bad news. According to the Wall Street Journal ( WSJ ), President Obama has asked the DOE to cut the hydrogen car budget for 2010 by 60-percent or roughly $100 million. According to the WSJ, the President sees hybrids, plug-ins and full electric cars as a better near term solutions ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

AZ attractive to entrepreneurs
He co-wrote "Conquer the Chaos. How to Grow a Successful Small Business without Going Crazy." It's on the New York Times Best Seller List. Martineau said one reason Arizona is good is because of tax breaks that started in 2006. "Governor Napolitano at the time had a program where `angel investors' could get up to a 30 percent tax credit by investing in qualified Arizona businesses," Martineau said, explaining that `angel investors' are people who lend money to start-up businesses. That program runs through June 2011. A lot of entrepreneurs want to head west, and Arizona is the best in the west, ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Bureaucratic barriers must not obstruct oil spill cleanup
WASHINGTON — More than two months have passed since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, tragically killing 11 workers and causing a leak that is gushing up to 60,000 barrels of oil into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico each day.  For Gulf Coast communities fearful oil will wash up on their beaches, for the fisherman and shrimpers whose livelihoods have essentially been cut off, and for the wildlife and ecosystems that are being destroyed, help literally cannot come fast enough. The worsening environmental and economic consequences of the spill should be easy motivation to make absolutely sure every form of aid ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Carry out a once-in-a-generation transformation of the Universal Service Fund over the next ten years to support broadband service. This will be achieved by converting existing subsidy mechanisms over time from "POTS" (plain old telephone service) to broadband, without increasing the size of the fund over the current baseline projection. Upgrade the E-Rate program, which has successfully connected public libraries and K-12 classrooms, benefiting students across the country by making broadband more accessible. Reform and upgrade the Rural Health Care Program to connect more public health facilities to high speed Internet ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics
Yale Law School | Cut the Red Tape: Why Haitians Need Humanitarian ...
The relief effort in Haiti is progressing from rescuing the trapped to caring for the wounded. The United States has admirably taken the lead in this effort. Domestically, the U.S. government has halted deportations to Haiti and designated Haitian nationals in the United States for temporary protected status. These actions are steps in the right direction, but we should do more. For some of the worst injured earthquake survivors, hope lies only in the life-saving treatments available in U.S. hospitals. Despite the willingness of U.S. hospitals to accept these patients and the availability of NGOs to coordinate care, bureaucratic ...

Fastest way is probably getting together all the evidence you can, and then hounding your Senator until they push it through. It seems that a sizeable percentage of answers invoke God and quote the bible. Is this representative of the US as a whole or just that the more fervent believers are more vocal? Also are comments such as "God Bless" religious or just an everyday expression? Where Did The Saying "Red Tape" Come From? - Yahoo! Answers
Usually red tape refers to an obstacle preventing something from happening that needs to be resolved. Where did "red tape" come from? Legal and official documents have been bound with red tape since the 17th century and continue to be so. The first reference I can find to this practice is the 1696-1715 Maryland Laws: "The Map upon the Backside thereof sealed with his Excellency's Seal at Arms on a Red Cross with Red Tape." We now usually mean fussy or unnecessary bureaucracy when we refer to 'red tape'. The first record I have of it being used in that sense is from The pleader's guide, 1796. ...
