Special Report on

Education, migration, and job satisfaction

education migration and job satisfaction special research report Photo by nordkraft.biz
Against the plethora of studies of the factors influencing job satisfaction, this paper makes three contributions. First, in contrast to most studies of job satisfaction which are country-specific, the scope of this paper extends to 33 different countries. Comparing different countries on the basis of their mean job satisfaction scores ignores inequality in the distribution of scores between the countries’ individual respondents: the paper’s second contribution is to construct “equity-sensitive” job satisfaction scores for each country and, using these indicators, to compare their achievements with respect to job satisfaction. ...
and several other developed nations such as the UK, Austria, Norway, Japan, and Australia. As of 2009, U.S. medical facilities were in need of an additional 100,000 nurses. UN Code to Halt Indiscriminate Drain of Health Workers — Global ...
GENEVA (IDN) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has developed a ‘global code of practice’ to stem the ‘brain drain’ of health-care workers from developing to high-income countries, which weakens health systems in the countries they quit. Worldwide, there are around 60 million health workers. About two-thirds provide health services; the other one-third is management and support workers. Without them, prevention and treatment of disease and advances in health care cannot reach those in need. Against this backdrop, WHO — a directing and coordinating health authority of the United Nations ... market research, surveys and trends

Improving health workforce migration
You're listening to the WHO podcast and my name is Veronica Riemer. In this episode we look at problem of migration of health workers and a new code to regulate international recruitment. Many health workers, such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians – as well as management and support workers - migrate to high-income countries to earn more money, to increase job satisfaction and career or training opportunities. Others move away from political instability, war, and the threat of violence in the workplace. Demand for health workers is increasing in high-income countries, where health systems can depend ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Potential of China in Global Nurse Migration
Address correspondence to Zhiwu Zack Fang, M.D., M.B.A., Joint Commission International, 11447 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63131. The purpose of this paper is to examine what is known about the nurse workforce and nursing education in China in order to assess the likely potential for nurse migration from China in the future. There is a severe shortage of nurses in China (only one nurse per thousand in population), but at the same time there is a very high level of unemployment and underemployment of nurses. China's nursing education system is huge in size (about 500,000 nursing students in 2005), but weak in quality and ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics

Job satisfaction of philippines public health nurses? - Yahoo! Answers
I am conducting a research on how the different areas of the work situation (work, pay, facilities, benefits, supervision, and co-workers) impact on the job satisfaction of public health nurses in the philippines. This is partly in compliance with the requirements of my research 1 class, and partly as an advocacy to improve the health care situation in the country.
