In addition, numerous lawsuits challenging recent budget solutions concerning health, social services, transportation, and other areas suggest that many of the ...
MEA-MFT is primarily an education union, with most of its members being teachers, paraprofessionals and other school-related personnel. The union also represents large numbers of faculty in the state's public higher education system, and a wide variety of workers in state government ranging from accountants to foresters to health care workers. The union also represents a small number of health care workers in the private sector. MEA-MFT was formed in 2000 by the merger of the two unions: The Montana Education Association (MEA), an affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA), and the Montana Federation of Teachers ...

so I can talk about the elements that are common among them. First, a mea culpa: when reading the Broward document on Safari, the browser only showed the paragraph discussing impasse, and I wrote a blog entry based on that assumption. After seeing several of the MOUs, I checked the file format, realized it was not a PDF, and put it into a different app. So my erroneous description of Broward's and Hernando's MOUs as dramatically different is my fault. There are some interesting variations (as I explain below, Hardee should not be included in the broader list), but I'll stick with the commonalities. I'm going ... market research, surveys and trends
City Gambles It Can Achieve Pension Reform Outside of Collective ...
The Vanguard along with Councilmember Sue Greenwald and Lamar Heystek have criticized the contract agreements that have come forth out of the collective bargaining process in part because they have failed to take on the most serious of the structural problems.  Much time has focused on city pensions that exploded in the last decade as the city expanded their PERS coverage for public safety employees giving them 3% at 50 and giving other employees 2.5% at 55. As Councilmember Heystek said following the approval of the firefighter contract in December, "The biggest problem that I have with the contract is that it does very ... market research, surveys and trends

LRO | Collective Bargaining Agreements
The Labor Relations Office manages the collective bargaining process on behalf of the Governor with union-represented state employees. Every two years the State negotiates with Unions to modify and reach new collective bargaining agreements. In the fall of 2008, agreements negotiated and ratified by October 1, were not certified by the Director of the Office of Financial Management as financially feasible for the State. Therefore, agreements were not submitted in the Governor’s budgets. The parties resumed negotiations in the spring of 2009. The State successfully negotiated with Unions to reach non-economic ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics

QUESTION: I was recently laid off from a company in which I had worked for six years.  I beleive my layoff was discriminatory due to my salary as two other individuals who were in the same working class as myself are still employed.  On lady in particular just started with the company just four months ago and she is still with the firm.  I might add that up until that time, I worked in that position but was transferred to another department.  So, in effect the company laid off a person with six years experience and kept someone with only four months experience.  I am 62 years old and this new person is a ...
