Peter this is such an interesting question. It reminds me though of that old saying that when a butterfly flaps his wings in Thailand, two weeks later a storm arrives here in California! I mean how do you parse out what has happened? And if you do, someone can come along and give you a precursor to your event/s, which makes as much sense. I have worked in several airlines as a consultant and I know its a tough business; its even worse now for legacy carriers such as BA because of the arrival of such upstarts as RyanAir, and bankrupt or formerly bankrupt US carriers competing across the pond, for example (all with low cost ...

Employee Engagement and Corporate Culture - The Employee ...
In my experience, people only decide to become engaged if the workplace environment fully meets their needs. The most basic of these needs are to be heard and to be respected. The extent to which these are met dictates the employee's level of engagement. CC is what creates the workplace environment. The vast majority of workplaces have a culture of top-down command and control, one that by its nature discourages EE and treats employees with disrespect. So for me, EE cannot drive CC. CC is the horse, EE is the cart. Best regards, Ben http://www.leadingtoday.org/Onmag/jan03/bs-jan03.html ▶ Reply to This Permalink Reply by market research, surveys and trends
Mutiny on the Bounty! How Vision Boosts Employee Engagement and ...
I was sitting at lunch.  I was having a bad week and was looking at my plastic plate piled high with chicken fingers and fries.  I love chicken fingers.  They are a great passion of mine.  I sat across the table from one of the managers in my firm.  I knew what lunch was going to be about-  he was going to complain about the company, about his place in the organization and decisions that he did not understand. I could feel his negative energy creep into my psyche..  I was beginning to pile on.  I started to complain more and more.  It was a feeding frenzy and we were both pissed off by the time I had finished my strips.  It was ... market research, surveys and trends

Purchasing Transformation
Reports on konsumerbehavior and beliefs are always a great source when trying to understanding, educate and open the minds of procurement professionals (or anyone involved in development and manufacturing). Most often they expose consumers as a sort of elephant – they rarely forget and once they start moving in a direction, getting them to change can be an overwhelming task. Recently, Konsument Föreningen Stockholm – swedens largest non-profit consumer organization – opened a social media project called “Myths about Food” whereby they sought to expose and bust many of the myths that still float ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Beware the effects of workplace stress
Here in the middle of cold and flu season we've got plenty of viruses and bugs going around. But researchers are discovering that many health issues today don't have a season. It appears that up to 85 percent of all medical problems are caused by stress. The correlation between stress and health issues is mind boggling. According to Connie Tyne, executive director for the Cooper Wellness Program in Dallas, stress-related diseases will kill 52 percent of American executives. Perhaps if more managers and leaders understood the root causes and costs of stress they would do something about it and it wouldn't be the ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

I'm not looking for movies that just freaked you out or made you cry, I'm looking for ones that shook your soul. The ones that leave a taste in your mouth that never goes away. Don't know if you're looking for documentaries, but The Celluloid Closet forever altered my attitude towards not just gay people but all minority groups who have been looked down upon by the majority. I quote it to this day. As a white American, part of that majority, and growing up in a large city where we are all supposed to be accepting of one another, my snobby attitude towards my hurting minority friends was to dismiss their ...

Imagine a new company, seeking to launch a very expensive durable luxury consumer product (high 5-figure price). The product would have significant regulatory, liability & warranty concerns.
